happy easter:)
"What do you mean I can't go? That's not fair." Tyler huffed.
"You can't go. It's too dangerous. More than one life is at risk if you go." Brendon argued.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Tyler asked.
"You're," He paused, "Jay. If you go with us and get caught, Jay will be devastated if you get hurt. So you're not going."
"This is so stupid. Then what am I supposed to do? Sit around and do absolutely nothing while you guys get to adventure?" Tyler rolled his eyes.
"Yes Tyler. This is more than adventuring. We are looking for Josh's pack. It's abnormal for a whole pack to go missing with no signs or traces of struggle." Brendon shook his head.
"We talked about this the other day Josh. I have never been out of my stupid village until you came around. Please just let me go." Tyler begged.
"Tyler, you heard him. You can't go." Josh shook his head too.
"God. Jay has two other siblings. What's it if he loses one?" Tyler crossed his arms.
"This is not the time to be difficult Tyler. We have to leave soon. So Josh needs to go pack," Brendon looked at Josh, "I'll try to figure out which way we need to go that's the fastest."
"This is literally so dumb. Josh has Abby. And Ashley and Jordan? So why does he get to go?" Tyler raised his eyebrow.
"That's different." Brendon started to get frustrated.
"How?" Tyler waited for an answer.
"It just is. Now go watch T.V or something." Brendon waves him off and went into another room.
"Why am I even listening to them. I'll go if I want to. They can't stop me."
———
"Tyler."
"No."
"This is beyond childish."
"No it's not."
"Let go."
"If I can't go, neither can you."
"Tyler. Let go now."
For the past twenty minutes Tyler has been latched to Josh's leg. And with each passing minute, his grip got tighter.
"Please no." Tyler closed his eyes.
"Are you-," Josh looked down at Tyler, "Tyler are you crying?"
"No." He whispered.
"Baby why? Why're you crying?" Josh tried to hug Tyler but couldn't because he was still holding his leg.
"You're leaving. What if you never come back?" He sniffled.
"I will. What makes you think that I won't?" Josh ran his fingers through Tyler's hair.
"I don't know." Tyler said quietly.
"Listen we have to go now. We'll be there by tomorrow evening if we leave now." Brendon interrupted.
"Ty. You gotta let go now, okay?" Josh rubbed his back.
He let go reluctantly and pulled his knees up. Josh gave him a kiss on the cheek and went out the door with Brendon. He sat down against the wall and stared at the ceiling. Since he was at Josh's house, he was gonna be forced to go home by himself. So he was gonna put it off until later. And although he won't admit it, he cried for the majority time he was there.
———
He should have not let it get this late.
It was dark and scary. And he hated it. He paced himself trying to get home as fast as he could.
But his little legs could only go so fast. Just not fast enough for Tyler. Then it dawned on him.
He could fly.
"Oh what an idiot I am." Tyler said dumbfounded.
Fortunately he made it home. Exhausted. But home nonetheless.
"Hey Tyler. Where's Josh?" Kelly asked. She was doing dishes.
"He had to leave for a few days." Tyler said sadly.
"I'm sure he'll be back soon. Get to bed though." She smiled.
He walked up the stairs and into his bedroom. Jay was already asleep, so he crept up his bed. He stopped in the middle of the ladder. He didn't want to sleep by himself tonight. He went back down the ladder, and stopped himself. Did he wanna wake up Jay?
"Jay." He shook him a little bit.
Jay moved and stretched as he opened his eyes a little bit.
"Tyty." He smiled.
"Hey bub. Do you think Tyty could sleep with you tonight? He's scared of the dark and doesn't wanna sleep up there." Tyler ran his fingers through Jays hair.
Without responding Jay scooted over and patted the bed. Tyler got the hint and laid down beside him. Jay snuggled up to Tyler's side.
"I love you Jaybug."
———
"Ty." Jay whispered.
"Yeah Jayjay?" Tyler whispered back, without opening his eyes.
"Can you fix me breakfast please?" Jay tugged on the blanket.
"Did mom wake up late?" Tyler stretched.
"Mommy had to go somewhere. Daddy had to go to work." Jay said.
"How long have you been up?" Tyler rose, looking at Jay worriedly.
"An hour." Jay said honestly.
"Oh Jay honey. Why didn't you wake me up earlier?" Tyler got up and took Jays hand.
"I don't know." He shrugged. The two went down the stairs and into the kitchen.
"Let's get some food in that tummy." Tyler smiled at him. Jay giggled in response.
"So what does Jay want?" Tyler asked.
"He wants bacon and toast." Jay smiled widely and giggled.
"Then he will get bacon and toast." Tyler went to the fridge and looked for bacon. And of course the Joseph family had a lot of it. It was the go to when having breakfast.
"Jaybug do you mind getting the bread out for me please?" He turned around.
"Okay." Jay got up and went to the pantry. He stood and finally found the bread.
"Here you go Tyty." He put the bread in the counter beside Tyler.
"Thank you." He tried not to gag as he cut the bacon in half and turned the stove on. He grabbed a pan off of the wall and greased it. Once again trying not to throw up, he put slices of bacon on the pan and waited.
"Crunchy or chewy J?" Tyler asked.
"Crunchy!" Jay exclaimed.
"Good answer. That's my favorite kind." Tyler smiled.
Unexpectedly the door opened revealing a very stressed looking Kelly.
"Hey mom." Tyler smiled.
"Tyler we need to talk. Right now."
