Y/n stood ready to fight or sprint, the slow and quiet dripping of water echoed around her in the tunnels. She was under the city, a vast expansion of catacombs, rooms and dead ends. The air was freezing as her breath becoming fog as if left her. Ice had frozen over the still puddles among the ruins and tunnels.
She had her breathing controlled to make the least noise. Besides, the Wolf knows how to hunt...but does she know how to hide? Footsteps rang out somewhere to her left...four pathways on either side of her, meaning they could be anywhere in those four. She listened for a moment, holding her breath to hear better.
Footsteps...one person? No...other door has another set..wait...the other side also has a set...
Three.
Evie, Henry and Jacob.
Or maybe just Jacob and two Rooks?
Y/n didn't know...either way her nerves were not paying her any kindness as she was jittery with fear and excitement. She looked up, having heard footsteps. There was a tunnel above her...with a shadowed figure of a man peering down at her...Hood and a glint of they man'so bracers.
Jacob.
"Okay....yeah no." Y/n mumbled, darting off through a darkened tunnel as everything went silent, apart from her own steps upon the muddy cobblestones of the tunnels and whoever was behind her -- who, upon landing on the ground with a huff and a smirk once they had laid eyes on Y/n, the female assassin had indeed identified as Jacob Frye.
He gave chase, being a bit faster than Y/n, but not as nimble. Jacob followed her up some wood catwalks and beams, she had leapt to multiple beam in attempt to slow him. He almost caught her by the shoulder, but she jerked free and shoved him off the wooden beam. He landed below, a groan from another platform as he landed with a thud, he groaned himself in pain. Y/n was a keen listener, but she had failed to hear Jacob's dear sister, Evie, make an entrance behind Y/n. Evie stood, her calm complexion was deceiving as she was rather upset from seeing her brother fall from the beam. The two females locked eyes, only for a moment however, as the fearsome Wolf was already sprinting away. Her breathing heavy and ragged from running.
When Y/n had finally reached the opening of the catacombs, she had broken into a sprint, before forcefully slamming into the chest of a cloaked man with a top hat -- he had stepped right in front of her -- whom wrapped his arms around her, securing her in place. She immediately recognized the scent -- leather, gunpowder, old spices and just...Jacob. Her heart sank, she sensed the presence of another assassin and about four Rooks, all of whom where dressed like Jacob, one of which was holdin they're side -- the one she pushed -- as they closed in around her and Jacob. Unless she could fight them all off or somehow escape them, she had lost the game. Jacob either had to incapacitate her...or kill her. Neither of which Y/n wanted.
Thinking over her options, she found herself leaning into his hand, which he was petting her hood with. "That lonely, Love?" Jacob asked, barely higher than a whisper, his voice filled with emotion. She suddenly tensed, remembering something from her past.
/
Y/n cuddled against Jacob as they sat upon a rooftop in Crawley, she had been having nightmares about her childhood again.
He was petting her hair as she leaned into his hand sometimes.
"Are you alright now, Love?" She nodded, taking in his scent one last time before they started going home.
