Y/n once again awoke in the arms of her lover, Jacob. Except it wasn't morning...nor was it Evie banging on the door. Footsteps clomping across the metal rooftop -- no, Jacob's roof -- had woken her up. Carefully climbing from Jacob's embrace and pulling on her gear, the Wolf opened a window and quietly climbed through. The air rushing past blew her hood down and sent a chill through her bones. With one hand on the railing, she fixed her hood to conceal her identity once more before stealthily pulling herself onto the rooftop and spotting the stranger.
What appeared to be a young man, possibly in his late thirties, who was trying oh so hard to be quiet (save for him tripping a few seconds later and causing the loudest sound in the London night). The Wolf's eyes narrowed, her pupils shrinking slightly as she focused her senses, the color draining from her surroundings as the man erupted in color...from blue to green to red to gold. What in the world? Thought Y/n as she stalked up to him, silently closing the gap.
"Damn...they closed the windows...better check for a door instead." He said, placing his hands on his hips andgazing towards the night sky. "Yeah, real annoying when they do that, eh?" Y/n asked, smirking as she readied her blades. "It sure is...WAIT-" He exclaimed, but was soon pinned to the metal sheets of the roof with everyone's favorite broken assassin on top of him, poised to kill. "I swear it I'm a Rook!" He whimpered, staring at the newly sharpened blade...it glinted in the moonlight like the oceans surface. "You certainly don't look the part..why shouldn't I just kill you here and now?" She said, tilting her head slowly to the sides, causing her neck to pop. "I have a message for Mr. Frye about shipments of cargo...yeah!" Rolling her eyes and pressing the blade to his neck, Y/n smiled. "If you are a Rook, then who is Frye very close with apart from his sister? All Rooks know this by now, even the little ones." He spluttered, having trouble recalling whom she was speaking of.
"He's a single bloke! Everyone knows that!-" Before he could continue, she had slashed his neck open in one slice...blood sprayed across the bridge of her nose and cheek. "My name is Y/n L/n, The Wolf, and Jacob is my love, as I am his. Do your research before concluding the false narrative." With that, the light faded from his eyes, his final sight...the night sky just before dawn.
Her eyes snapped upwards towards new footsteps, where an actual Rook stood, holding out a lantern. "Miss Wolf?" He asked, unsure. Y/n remained crouched over her kill, eyeing him carefully...sizing him up...finally recognizing him as a friend and not a foe. "...Rook?" He shuffled awkwardly. "Sorry...just heard some noises and thought I'd take a look..bye." The Rook turned on his heel and went back inside the Train. Y/n looked back at the corpse, thinking for a moment before looting his pockets.

Once she finished looting, she grabbed his hand and dragged his body to the edge, allowing a building to finish the job for her by slamming the body and launching it far below...messy.
Sighing, Y/n quietly walked back to Jacob's car, entering through a window and keeping it open -- just in case. Jacob had shifted, half awoken by the coat hanger rattling as she hung up her coat. "Come baaaaaaaaccckkk," he slurred, lazily reaching for her as she entered the bed again and allowing him to cuddle again. "I missed yooouuu.." He whined before falling asleep again.
Y/n managed to wiggle her arms free, pulling out the letters and reading it.

Quinn,
Under certain circumstances I have requested the elimination of both of the Frye twins, they have caused me enough tiresome events. I want you to locate their headquarters and dispatch of both. The male, Jacob, is the leader of that insufficient and insufferable gang named the 'Rooks'. Slay him and strike fear into their hearts. The sister, Evie, at all costs slay her. She poses a threat higher than her brother.
Beware the Wolf, due to rumors I must state precautions in case of encounters with that...beast. Do not, under any circumstances, engage with the Wolf. Do not become intertwined in their grasp as it will most likely end in your death. Lastly, if you see the Wolf, I request you to turn around and travel a different direction.
Do not disappoint me.
Crawford Starrick

Chuckling lightly, Y/n folded the letter and returned it to her pocket, listening to Jacob mutter nonsense under his breath. And then, like every morning...the clock struck seven o'clock and Evie pounded on the door. Jacob awoke with a start, clutching onto Y/n as if she was his lifeline. "Oh bug off! It's a Sunday!" He scornfully yelled, turning over and bringing Y/n with him. "We need to get you out of here.." He whispered gently to the Wolf, who nodded and waited for him to let go. "Jacob! If you don't get up in two minutes I'm going to drag you out from that bed and toss you in the mud!" With one final pound, she left the door to sit somewhere and keep track of time...
Y/n was released from Jacob, as she quickly put on her coat...her vision flickered and glitched like an old VHS..blocks of some kind of crystalline something or other replaced the walls and flooring. Jacob had stopped moving and seemed frozen in place...his form seemed to be vibrating as it glitched out.
"Y/n, it's getting pretty unstable in there...I have to pull you out."
"Uh. No! I'm not leaving this. Beccs, I swear if you-"
"Just don't attack us, okay?"
The familiar sensation of being tugged from the simulation engulfed her senses, momentarily dazing her. "I fucking swear to God..." Beccs turned from her computer, an apologetic look on her face as she nodded, Shaun stood nearby with a paralytic fluid in a syringe. Whipping her head around, Y/n spotted the most hated object she could think of...the syringe.
She scrambled away from Shaun, eyeing him cautiously as she backed away. "What the hell guys?!" Rebecca sighed, typing some commands into some console. "Just don't do anything rash and I won't use it." Shaun said, lowering the fearsome needle. "For the record..I fucking hate you." "I know.."
Y/n had finally settled herself on top of a dozen crates, high up and away from Shaun and his weapon. He was standing four feet away from her stack of crates, smirking at her behavior.
I should've thrown those drugs out that damn window when I had the chance.
