Althea POV
I STOOD in the kitchen, preparing a meal for my husband. Yes, I've been married to him for four years. After turning off the stove, I set the food on the table, but my focus shifted when I heard footsteps. I knew it was him. I greeted him with a smile, "Good morning, hub—" but my smile faded when I noticed the rolling bag behind him.
"H-hubby, what's that?" I asked, my voice trembling.
He stared at me coldly. "Stop annoying me, Althea, and stop calling me that."
His words sent a chill through me. "Blake, what's in the bag?"
"I'm breaking up with you, Althea."
The ground seemed to shift beneath me. Breaking up? My heart raced, and tears threatened to spill from my eyes. "No! Blake! Don't do this. You know how much I love you!" I pleaded, my voice cracking. It hurt. I love him, and I can't accept that he will going to break up with me.
"THE FUCK... YOU KNOW I DIDN'T LOVE YOU, ALTHEA! YOU'RE JUST AN ITCHY SLUT TO ME. HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU I DON'T FEEL THE SAME? YOU'RE JUST AN ANNOYING BITCH!" he shouted, and I flinched at his harsh words.
Four years of love, and he never felt the same. I had always known I was the only one who love him. I agreed to this marriage because I thought it would make me happy. I love him since college, and even though I knew he didn't love me back, I fought for him. I gave him everything, even my heart.
"Please, Blake, don't leave me!" I begged, falling to my knees and clutching his suitcase to stop him from leaving.
"STOP FOOLING YOURSELF, ALTHEA! YOU'RE SO SELFISH! YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW I FEEL. YOU'RE THE REASON DIANNA LEFT ME BECAUSE OF THIS MARRIAGE! AND NOW YOU TELL ME NOT TO LEAVE YOU, YOU BITCH!"
Dianna. The woman he love since childhood. I had watched their love unfold, feeling jealous and wishing I had canceled the wedding. I was the reason they were apart, and now he was furious with me.
"Please, I'm begging you, Blake," I cried.
"NO! Althea. I'm sorry, but Dianna is pregnant, and I'm the father."
I froze. When did they start seeing each other again? I had no idea he had returned to the woman he truly loved. I had always felt inferior to her, knowing that his heart was never mine.
"What? Dianna's pregnant?" I stammered.
No! How about us?
"Yes, and stop this dramatic scene. You know how much I love Dianna, and I'm happy to have a child with her. Please, just stop. I want my child," he said, his voice hoarse.
Slowly, I released the suitcase. I loved him, but I couldn't bear the thought of causing harm to anyone.
"And please sign this annulment paper," he said, handing me a brown envelope.
I wiped my tears furiously, but they wouldn't stop. I grabbed the envelope and signed it without hesitation.
Before handing it back, I said, "Blake, you know how much I love you. I would give you everything, but now I set you free. I'm so sorry for what happened." He took the envelope without a word and left.
I collapsed to the floor, sobbing.
"For the last time, I love you. Mahal na mahal kita, Blake" I cried, knowing I would never say those words to him again.
It hurts to think that the one you love is leaving you for someone else. Love can blind you, making you sacrifice everything for the one you adore. But love should also bring happiness, not this trobbing heart whose hurt because he left.
I placed a hand on my stomach, feeling the emptiness, yet knowing I wouldn't be alone.
"Baby," I say, gently placing my hand on my small tummy, "I'm so sorry I can't give you a whole family. But I promise, I will be both your mom and dad."
