AltheaPOV
I WOKE up to the warm rays of the sun. Slowly, I opened my eyes and immediately raised one of my hands to shield myself from the light.
I glanced at the person next to me. It was Kayzer. He wrapped his arm around my waist possessively. I smiled as I looked at his handsome face. I reached my hands to his cheeks. I remember what happened last night—damn! It's really hot.
Slowly, the arms that were wrapped around my waist were removed. I held my breath when it suddenly moved and quickly turned its back to me.
I quickly went to the bathroom while I wrapped the white bedsheet around my naked body. I looked at my reflection in the mirror and slowly let go of the white fabric, revealing the kiss marks from Kayzer.
I shook my head as I stared at the mirror. A Kayzer's jealousy is really something else. He didn't let me sleep.
I turn on the shower and slowly feel the cold stream of water on my body. I close my eyes from the chill.
Every drop of water on my body feels like my bad memories are coming back to me.
"You need to forget him now, Althea"
I couldn't hold back my tears when I heard Kayzer's voice. We're here in one of his houses in Paris. It's been a couple of days since we left the Philippines, but the memories of Blake and I are just as close.
I quickly turned to him, and he was standing at the open door of my room. He's the one who helped me. I don't know how he found out about my situation, but I'm very grateful because he's here.
"I can't forget him, Zer," I shook my head as I answered. "Even though I want to, I just can't."
I wiped my own palms. It hurts. It really hurts. I've known for a long time that he doesn't love me, but every morning I still hope that he will. Until the day he left. The days that are gone. The days I can no longer reach.
"How can you forget him... when you yourself don't want to?"
"If you only knew, Zer. I really want to... but the moment I force myself, he just keeps going around in my mind."
He immediately hugged me. The kind of hug I need at times like this. The hug that should make me fight. The hug that still has hope.
"Don't stress yourself... it's not good for the baby," he kissed my forehead. "Eat now. You'll forget him too. It's not easy to forget, Althea..."
"...the moment you enter a relationship, you'll be happy but the companion of joy is sadness and pain," he stood up and immediately approached the door. "Make sure you eat for the baby. I can't bear to see you in pain, it's killing me," then he left.
Even though I wanted to eat during those days, there was no taste... it was unappetizing. I fell asleep hungry and crying, so when I woke up, I was shocked to find blood on my bed. That's when I realized that I had twins and that my life was split by the loss of one of my children.
I open my eyes to the feeling of someone hugging me from behind. Even without turning around, I knew who it was. It was Kayzer. Just from his scent.
"Hon, you're crying."
I didn't realize that I had been crying. It hurts so much to think about my past. Sometimes I wonder if I could have loved Blake differently. What would my life be like now? Would I be miserable?
But I have no regrets because I have Blaze and Kayzer. And I am thankful for that. I welcomed each drop of water from the shower to at least wash away the tears in my eyes. Kayzer pressed his face deeper into my neck and gave me a gentle kiss.
"Don't worry, Hon. Blaze is okay now. Your mom called me and she said Blaze is awake and he wants to see you."
I abruptly turned to him. Did I hear that right? Is it true that my son is awake? Am I not going deaf?
"Are you telling the truth?" I asked nervously. I didn't want to assume anything if I heard wrong.
He smiled and nodded at me, "Yes, Blaze is awake."
Overwhelmed with joy, I kissed him. My happiness was boundless. What I felt now was beyond mere words because my son is awake.
As he responded to my kiss, tears of joy flowed freely down my cheeks—tears not of pain but of happiness. I prayed sincerely and thanked God, knowing He would not abandon me. I just had to keep fighting.
He wrapped his arms around my waist, and I wrapped my arms around his neck. Our kisses were full of love—so soft and tender.
We stopped breathless and looked at each other. I could see his happiness—happiness because he saw that I was happy.
"But let me remind you of something," he said, furrowing his brow when he spoke. "Blake is still out there... just like we discussed. Stay away from him or else... I'm going to claim you again and again to remind you that you are mine."
