Althea POV
I WAS standing in front of Blake's desk with Dianna beside him. Yes... he is the CEO of this company. Damn! Why didn't I know that? When we were together, he had a company, but I didn't know its name, all I knew was that it was a major alcohol brand in the Philippines.
I stood there, my head bowed. I could feel the intensity of their gazes on me. Shit! I didn't know what to do. Should I greet them, or did they need something? Should I introduce myself first? Damn! I didn't know what to do!
"So? She is your new secretary?" Dianna suddenly asked.
"Yes..." Blake replied softly. I still hadn't lifted my gaze to meet theirs. I was scared! I didn't know why... but that's how I felt right now.
"I request to fire her___"
"No! She isn't leaving this company!"
I looked up in surprise when I heard Blake shout. I furrowed my brow. What was this jerk's problem?
His words kept echoing in my mind. It felt like there was a deeper meaning behind it... sending chills down my spine. I shook my head. What was I thinking?
"And why!? Huh!"
"Because I said so!"
"Are you shouting at me, Blake!? Huh!"
"Because you're not listening to me!"
"Why not! Why don't you want to get rid of that woman!"
I swallowed hard as they began to yell. Shit! Don't they realize I'm standing right here? Hello! I'm here!
"Uh... ma'am... sir... I'll just step out for a moment—"
"No!"
"Leave."
I was confused, staring at them as my gaze darted back and forth. Okay? I was the one caught in their situation here.
"Just leave... you're just wasting your time here!" I felt a sense of relief at Dianna's words because I had wanted to leave for a while, it felt like I couldn't breathe.
I bowed my head to show respect before turning to the door, but just as I was about to exit, I froze when I heard Blake say something that terrified me.
"Try to leave this room, and I'll lock you in here... forever."
Faster than a speeding bullet, I approached them again and returned to where I had been standing earlier. You know what scenario this is. It happened when we were still together. I remembered when he threatened me back then, I could never forget it because he didn't let me out for two weeks.
"So... sorry, I—"
"Ha!" I was immediately halted by Dianna's mocking shout. "What is this? Blake? What is your relationship with this woman? Huh!" She paused for a moment and glared at me. "Is she one of your women?!... What, Blake, answer me?!"
"Do you want to know?" Blake replied with a grin. A grin that gave me a bad feeling. My heart began to race. Shit! What if he says, 'She's just my ex-wife... the one I left for you'? Please, no.
"Am I asking who she—"
"Maybe you'll just get hurt?"
"I'm not joking, Blake."
"She's my e___"
"Ahh... ma'am... I'm Blake's cousin," I quickly interjected. I knew what this man was about to say. I knew he would tell Dianna the truth, and it might only make her angrier with me. They both looked at me in surprise—eyes wide. I had no other choice, that was all I could think of.
"Cousin? You? Oh come on... don't talk if you're just going to lie!"
"It's true, ma'am... I really am his cousin—"
"I said STOP!"
I bit my lip, feeling overwhelmed. What have I gotten myself into! I might go crazy here. If he wasn't going to be my boss, I would have dealt with this long ago...
"Althea is right. She's my c... cousin," Blake said, panting slightly as he looked back at Dianna.
"You're going to join this woman in lying, m___"
"No, grandpa recommended her as my secretary."
"Do you think I'll believe that?"
The man just shrugged and returned his gaze to me. We held eye contact for a moment, but I looked away because I felt uncomfortable under his stare.
"Dianna, can you... go and leave!?"
"So now I'm the one who has to leave!"
"Yes... I have a little business with my new secretary. My Althea."
