Althea POV
I RUSHED into the hospital, forgetting everything that had happened earlier. My mind was consumed with worry for my child. I didn't know what had happened to my son, but the uncertainty made me feel weak.
"Nurse, which room is Blaze Scot in?" I asked one of the front desk staff.
"Room 201, ma'am. It's on the second floor."
I immediately took off running. I didn't know if Kayzer was following me, but I didn't care. My concern for my child overshadowed everything else.
I felt like I was going crazy as I searched for room 201. I wanted to scream just to know that damn number. I was frantically looking at every door until I finally spotted my parents sitting with their heads bowed in the waiting area.
"Mom! Dad!"
They looked up. My mom immediately enveloped me in a hug, and I could hear her muffled sobs. The tears I had been holding back began to flow.
What happened to my son? I wanted to ask, but all that came out were sobs.
I hugged my mom tightly. I didn't want to lose my son. I had already lost a daughter... I couldn't bear to lose another child.
"Family of the patient?"
I looked up at the sound of the doctor's voice. I approached him and grabbed his shoulders.
"I am his mother. What happened to my son, Doc?"
"Miss Scot, your son had a major head injury. He's stable for now, but we can't be complacent because he is in a coma."
For a moment, I felt deafened. My world stopped. I could hear the pounding of my heart. I tightened my grip on the doctor.
"Doc? You're kidding, right?"
"This is not a joke, Miss Scot. He needs a blood donor right now. He lost a lot of blood."
"What happened to my son, Doc?"
"Due to the impact of the car accident, he suffered a head injury and lost a significant amount of blood from the upper part of his body. It's not just his head that's affected, his arm and leg are injured as well."
My mouth fell open in shock as I stared at my mom. "What happened to Blaze? Why did it end up like this?" I wanted to shout, but I couldn't.
My mom covered her face with her hands and began to sob.
"I'm so sorry, anak. He was playing in the yard when the ball he was playing with bounced into the street. I didn't realize he had been hit. I'm so sorry, Althea. I didn't mean to."
I felt like I had been struck deaf. I cried silently as tears streamed down my face. I couldn't blame my mom, it was my fault. If I hadn't gone to work, if I had been home taking care of them, nothing bad would have happened. There wouldn't be a Blake coming back. I wouldn't be facing this problem now. My son wouldn't be in the hospital. It was all my fault.
I dropped to my knees on the cold floor, crying uncontrollably like a child. I wanted to stop, but the thought of what might happen to my son was too painful.
"We need a blood donor as soon as possible. If we can't find a donor... you might lose your son. I'll take my leave. Excuse me."
I suddenly felt Kayzer's warm embrace around me. He held me like a child, but I still couldn't stop crying.
At any moment, I could lose my child. At any moment, he could leave me. I could lose another loved one. And I would never allow that to happen.
I wiped my tears angrily, but they kept flowing. I bit my lip and looked at everyone's faces. I didn't know what I looked like right now. I didn't care!
"Kayzer, I need to go back to Blake. I need to talk to him about this."
"I'll talk to him, Thea."
"No!! This is about my son. I need him right now... my son needs him." I kissed Kayzer's cheek. "I need to go."
Sorry, Kayser. I need Blake right now. I need his blood. Once this problem is resolved, we'll go back to Paris. Bago ako tumalikod nakita ko pang nasaktan siya sa sinabi ko, I felt guilty pero inaalala ko si Blaze. I really sorry. I promise babawi ako.
