ALTHEA had been working for Blake for three months now. Although she wanted to leave her job, the thought of losing her child was unbearable. She would rather endure working for her former husban than lose her only son.
As she gazed out the window of their car, memories of her time with Blake flooded her mind. She couldn't believe how things had turned out, she blamed herself for being foolish. If only she hadn't been so naive, she wouldn't be working in Blake's territory now.
Her thoughts were interrupted when she felt a hand hold hers. She looked down to see it belonged to a concerned Kayzer.
"Is something wrong, hon?" he asked.
She returned his concern with a bittersweet smile. Kayzer didn't know about her job, and it hurt her deeply to lie to him. She simply shook her head in response.
"You've been restless these past few months. Is there a problem?"
He briefly glanced at her before returning his attention to the road.
"Nothing."
"Are you okay with your new job?"
"There's no problem." So many problems! She felt like she was about to explode from the weight of them, but she kept quiet.
"You don't seem okay."
She held Kayzer's hand tightly and placed it on her cheek. He paused, surprised by her gesture.
He pulled over to the side of the road and looked at her, his worry evident.
"Hon? I'm really worried. You don't seem okay at all."
Kayzer wiped away a stray tear from her eye. His heart ached at the sight of her distress. He knew she had something to say, but he didn't want to push her.
Althea shook her head, gradually starting to sob as she clutched his hand.
With no other option, Kayzer wrapped his arms around her. He unbuckled his seatbelt and pulled her onto his lap.
"Hey... did I do something wrong?" He planted gentle kisses in her hair.
She shook her head and pressed herself closer to his neck.
"Fuck, Althea! I think you're killing me with your silence!" he hissed.
She pulled away from his embrace and looked into his eyes. They locked gazes for a moment. She traced his cheeks, then his eyes, then his lips, until she finally reached his mouth and kissed him slowly. She wanted to erase her sadness with that kiss. Their tongues danced together, exploring every corner of each other's mouths. Althea moaned softly as he sucked on her tongue.
But Kayzer was the one to pull away, fearing he might lose control and do something more in the car.
"I love you," Althea whispered as she nestled back into his neck.
"I love you too."
Despite the turmoil in her heart, he started the car again while she remained in his lap. He smiled, realizing she was just seeking comfort.
"Did you do something wrong to be so affectionate?" he asked playfully.
Althea froze at his question. She knew he was joking, but guilt washed over her.
"N... nothing."
"You're not good at lying, Althea."
The woman tightened her grip around him. She wanted to confess, but every time she opened her mouth, no words came out.
"Hahaha... just kidding, hon."
She felt paralyzed at that moment. Fear gripped her heart, and she didn't want to feel it.
A few minutes later, they arrived at the cemetery. Althea requested to visit the place because she had dreamed of her daughter. In her dream, the child was crying and calling for her mommy.
Hand in hand, they stopped at the gravestone. She placed a white flower on it and lit a candle. She gently caressed the headstone that read "Blace Mae Scot."
"Ana... k?" Tears streamed down her face as she remembered the loss of her daughter. The pain was overwhelming.
"I miss you, baby girl. Did you know that so much has happened since we came back here?" She smiled bitterly, wanting to scream everything out but unable to do so. All she could do was cry.
"Hush... hon, do you want Baby Blace to be sad if she sees you crying? No... so stop," Kayzer comforted her, but no matter how much he wiped her tears, they wouldn't stop.
"Hey! Stop crying, okay?"
She nodded in response, looking back at the gravestone when she noticed a white flower lying on the side. She furrowed her brow and glanced at her boyfriend.
"Hon, did you come here... alone?"
"Nope. Why?"
"Look." She pointed to the flower, one they hadn't brought. "Someone left a flower." Kayzer stared at it. "Maybe someone visited Baby."
"No! No one knows about Blace, not even Blaze. He doesn't know about his twin, except for—"
She was interrupted when her phone suddenly rang. She quickly grabbed it, but her heart sank when she saw the message.
'Once you become mine again, Althea, I won't allow you to touch other men, or else I'll kill them.'
