Althea POV
I WOKE up to my son's cheerful voice.
"Mommy, wake up! Lalabas daw tayo!" he said, showering me with kisses.
"Baby, later. Mommy is so sleepy," I mumbled, still half-asleep.
"No, Mommy! It's already 8:13 AM. Wake up!"
"Just 5 more minutes, please, baby," I pleaded, keeping my eyes closed.
I felt him climb down from the bed. Thank goodness, as I had barely slept the night before. My mom had wanted to talk about everything while Kayzer bonded with my dad. I finally fell asleep around 3 AM.
Suddenly, I was jolted awake as someone picked me up. I opened my eyes to see Kayzer smiling at me.
"Kayzer, what are you doing?!" I shouted. "Get me down, you son of a—"
"Hey, hon, be careful with your words! I'm just trying to wake you up. Is this how you say 'Good Morning'?" he teased, and I scowled. This was why I didn't want him around the house, he always woke me up too early. No matter how much I begged him to let me sleep in, he just ignored me.
"Let me down. I can walk," I said, squirming.
"Behave! I want to serve my little queen."
Little queen? Well, then he must be the big queen. I rolled my eyes as he set me down at the dining table, where everyone was already seated.
"Good morning, Mom, Dad, Baby," I greeted them with little enthusiasm. I heard Kayzer chuckle softly, and I shot him a glare.
"Baka bigwasan kita dyan, eh," I muttered.
"Good morning, princess! Bakit naka-busangot ang mukha mo?" my mom asked, laughing.
"Mama, she got mad at me because she wanted to sleep more. And look at the time... it's already noon," Kayzer said, laughing while still looking at me.
"Tanghali? It's only 8 AM!" I replied.
I hated being woken up when I hadn't had enough sleep, and this man just loved to tease me.
"Diba, ngayon ka maghahanap ng trabaho?" my dad asked suddenly.
I was taken aback by his question. Oh right, I had a job interview today! It had completely slipped my mind. "Shit!" I exclaimed, quickly shoveling food into my mouth, nearly choking as I rushed.
"Ayan kasi, ang tagal gumising!" Kayzer said, smirking.
"Kayzer, kanina pa ako nagtitimpi sa iyo!" I shot back.
"Okay, relax... tapos ka na?"
"Hmmm... baka kasi mahuli ako." I wiped my mouth and kissed him on the cheek. "Hon, aalis muna ako ha. Pagdating ko, aalis tayo para magbonding." I winked at him, feeling playful.
I turned to Blaze. "Baby, aalis tayo pag naka-uwi na si Mommy."
"Yup, Mommy! Balik ka ha!" he said, kissing my cheek. After saying my goodbyes, I hurried upstairs to get ready.
Once I parked my car, a large building with Serenity Wine Company written on it came into view. I was immediately awestruck by its grandeur.
When I entered, my jaw dropped. The interior was modern, with golden walls and marble tiles. A stunning chandelier hung in the center, and everyone was dressed in formal attire.
I glanced at my wristwatch. "Gee, konting minuto na lang, magsisimula na ang interview." I planned to apply for the secretary position, hoping to save up some money.
As I walked in, my nerves intensified with every step. Suddenly, I felt all eyes on me. Conversations stopped, and everyone stared.
"Diba siya iyon?"
"Oo nga, no?"
"Nagbalik siya. I thought hindi na."
"The real queen is back."
My eyes narrowed in confusion. What the heck? Were they talking about me? I brushed it off and continued to the receptionist desk.
"Excuse me, miss. Mag-aapply sana ako bilang secretary. I want to ask you, what floor?" I asked the girl typing at the desk. She looked up, startled.
"A-ahhh... sa 45 f-floor, Mam Althea," she stammered.
Why was everyone reacting this way? Did they think I was a ghost? And how did she know my name?
Realization hit me. First, the guard had been shocked to see me, then the whispers from the workers, and now this girl's reaction. Something was off, and I felt a knot form in my stomach.
Despite my apprehension, I walked toward the elevator and pressed the button for the 45th floor. My heart raced, and I struggled to breathe. "Shit, what's happening? Althea, relax. It's just a job interview, okay?"
Ding The elevator doors opened with a soft chime. The elevator doors opened, and I stepped out, searching for the CEO's office. It was easy to find, and I took a seat in the waiting area with a few other applicants.
As names were called one by one, I waited anxiously. When my name was finally called, I stood up.
Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. "Wag kang kabahan, Thea. Kaya mo iyan."
Knock Knock Knock I knocked on the door, each rap echoing through the quiet hallway.
"Come in," a cold voice said. Panic surged through me as I recognized the voice.
Slowly, I turned the doorknob and stepped inside. A figure sat with their back to me.
"G-good m-morning, sir. I am A-althea Leigh Scot. I am applying to be a s-secretary," I stuttered, feeling my nerves get the best of me.
The figure turned to face me, and my jaw dropped, eyes wide in shock. "What is he doing here?"
