Althea POV
THIS is the last day I will set foot in this place. I'm not coming in to work today, I'm just here to have Blake sign the Annotation on the Annulment. I want to end this.
As I entered, the security guard greeted me, probably because he recognized me, so I just gave him a faint smile. While I walked down the aisle, everyone's eyes were on me. I couldn't quite read their expressions, but I knew they were smiling at me, even the receptionists. I sighed. I didn't know if everyone knew about me and Blake. I hoped they didn't.
They bowed as I passed by them. What kind of behavior is that? I noticed that their greetings were unusually formal. After all, I was just working here like they were. I shook my head. I must be overthinking things.
When I entered the elevator, I suddenly stopped. I kept asking myself, What if Blake isn't willing to sign this? What if he doesn't want to break up with me? Ugh! My head was about to explode from thinking too much. Ahhh! Whatever happens, I'll confront him!
After a few minutes, I stood in front of Blake's office door. Just moments ago, I felt determined, but now my feet seemed glued to the floor. As I stared at the door, I thought that once I stepped inside, it would be like entering a place I could never leave. It looked like the gate of hell where Satan was seated.
I started to feel anxious... Something feels off.
I took a deep breath before I opened the door. Immediately, the scent of a man hit me, and I knew it belonged to Blake.
I scanned the room. It was simple inside, with chocolate-colored walls.
I quickly spotted Blake, surrounded by piles of papers on his large desk. He was signing something.
"You're late," he said in a cold voice without looking at me.
I gulped. My heart raced. There was something different about his aura today. I knew he was cold, but it felt even more intense now. I faked a cough before I spoke.
"S...sir Blake. I just submitted my resignation letter, and I want you to—"
I didn't finish my sentence when he suddenly lifted his head and stared at me intently. I furrowed my brows. There was something different in his eyes. Anger? Why was he angry? I should be the one who's angry.
"I already said, I DIDN'T ACCEPT THAT RESIGNATION LETTER FROM YOU!!" he stated firmly.
I bit my lip, trying to hold back my frustration. I wouldn't back down to this man!
"Sorry, but that's my decision. And..."
"And?"
"I want you to sign this annulment."
I frowned when I heard his laughter. What was so funny about what I said? "What do you think? Am I going to sign it? No!"
"Blake! Let's stop this!"
"Stop!? No way!?"
"I'm begging you. I'll do anything just to get you to sign this."
He paused at my words. He stared at me more intensely, then he smirked. I must have said something wrong... Shit!
"Anything?"
"Ye... yes," I replied hesitantly.
"Okay... I'll sign that annulment paper, and I will accept your resignation the moment you bring me my son."
My face drained of color. My heart began to race even more. No! He can't find out about my child. No! I felt like crying from anxiety.
"Wha... what do you mean?"
"Bring me my son. And I'll sign that damn paper!"
