"uncle jack!" my niece abby cheers when i open the door that leads into mine and cindys apartment. she rushes over to me with wide arms, hugging my leg tightly which makes me smile. "i've missed you" i smile down at her, picking her up to give her a proper hug. "no, i missed you" she retorts with a small laugh. it's still one of the cutest laughs i've ever heard. "oh you did, huh? how much?" i raise my eyebrows, smiling over at my sister molly as she walks in with their bags. "more!" she nods, indicating she missed me more than i missed her. "she's never going to let you put her down, you know." molly laughs as she looks at the two of us. "i don't mind" i answer honestly. "she's gotten so much bigger" i say in amazement. she was taller... way too tall now. i don't like it if i'm being honest, she's growing up too fast. "we have to go buy her new clothes soon. she's grown out of half of her closet!" she shakes her head, looking around the part of the apartment that was in her view.
"so where's your girlfriend?" she smirks, starting to walk around a little bit. "girl friend?" abby gasps making me smile some. "yes my girlfriend, she's in our room asleep right now. she's super tired." i tell them. we were out super late last night for her shoot she had. "oh then just let her sleep, i'll meet her soon enough." molly tells me as she sets her bags down. "where are we sleeping?" she asks me. "me and cindy we're thinking abby could sleep with us, then we have a guest room for you and laura... or one of you could take the couch.. you guys can figure that out" i explain with a small laugh as i put abby down to pick up their bags and take them to the guest room down the hall. "speaking of laura... when is she getting here?" she asks, raising her eyebrows at the question. "you know laura, she's always late so there's no way to tell" i chuckle, setting the bags i'm down in the room on the bed.
"this is actually a really nice place you two have got" molly tells me when i get back in the living room. she was examining all the photos we had on our mantle. most of them were of me and cindy, the rest were just family and friends... we didn't want to leave them out. we even have our friends year book pictures from senior year on our fridge. if you can't tell, we really love them... they're basically family. i don't think i could be any more grateful for the bond we all still share. "thanks! it was actually cindys, i just moved in about two months ago" i explain, walking back over to her. "do you guys want anything t-" i'm cut off by the sound of our bedroom door opening and cindy walking out, actually dresses up.
"never mind, looks like she's up" i smile, staring at her. she looked beautiful if i'm being honest. i mean she always does, but today it seemed like she was actually glowing. "oh wow.. hi i'm jacks sister molly and wow..you're gorgeous" molly rambles making me chuckle some at her words. well, she's not wrong. "and this is my daughter abby." she adds, running her hand through abbys hair to brush it out some as if she were trying to fix it. i chuckle again, shaking my head at her. molly's most likely starting to get nervous about the way they dressed. cindy would not care how they showed up. they could show up in pajamas or the baggiest clothes for all she cares. "awe thank you, you too!" she smiles at them, hugging molly back. "hi i'm cindy" she gets low enough to talk to abby. "i like your hair" abby giggles, reaching out to play with it.
