3: manager

You stared at the sky as you took your usual route to school. The sun was warm and it comforted you. You smile as you think how the day will start.

You enter the gym to be greeted by Kiyoko and some other players, preparing the net, some balls, water bottles and towels.

"Good morning! I am the new assistant manager. I promise to work hard!" you say as you bow. The guys were shocked as they look at Kiyoko, who totally forgot to tell them about you.

"We look forward to working with you! I'm Daichi Sawamura." he says as he extends his hand for a hand shake.

"Nice to meet you Daichi-san! I'm l/n f/n!" you say as you take his hand and shake it with a smile.

"I'm Sugawara Koushi! Nice to meet you l/n-san." he says with a smile and you smile back. You were waiting for the boy with the buzz cut to introduce himself but he was just there frozen with his mouth open staring at you.

"I'm sorry. This is Tanaka. He isn't really used to the presence of a female specimen." Sugawara says.

"Ah I see." you say as you go near him and put your hand on his shoulder. He shrieks.

"You should get used to me then!" You say with a smile and proceeded to walk to Kiyoko.

"I think she broke him." Sugawara says as Daichi smiles.

"This is going to be interesting." He says.

"T-two pretty managers." Tanaka finally says.

Soon, the room erupted with more 'good mornings' and boys introducing themselves. You weren't sure yet how you felt about them but they all shared a bond like no other. You smiled as you got reminded of your Junior High School days.

You watched as the boys trained while you sat with Kiyoko, recording their everything as you tapped your foot ferociously. You missed that. You missed that feeling. The sting on the heft you palm as you spike a ball. The 1 second the ball touches your hand as you set it. That sting on your wrist once you receive an intense serve.

"L/n-san?" Kiyoko says for the 3rd time but you were too busy zoning out.

"You okay?" She asks as she sets her clipboard on her lap.

"Ah-yeah. I'm fine." You say as you look back at the boys playing. Suddenly, you heard a scream and whoosh coming your way. It seemed fast but in your eyes it was in slow motion.

You eyes glinted with excitement as you held your arm up ready for impact. But then, the ball shifted. It was soon directed to Kiyoko whose eyes got bigger in fear. Her reflexes weren't fast enough. You stood up as fast as you could and lifted your arm to shield Kiyoko.

Soon, the ball went flying back to the boys' direction. Your eyebrows furrow as you look back at Kiyoko to see her eyes still closed, thinking that she was about get hit. You look back to the boys.

"Be careful next time." You say in a firm voice and it a strict manner.

"S-scary." You hear one of the players say as it snapped you back in reality. You quickly bowed to them.

"U-uh sorry! It's just um... old habits I guess." You say.

"L/n-san, did you play any sport before?" Daichi asks but before you could answer you saw two tall figures enter the gym. They all approach them as you followed. You soon discovered them to be Tsukishima and Yamaguchi and how they were going to play a three on three match with Hinata and Kageyama.

"Daichi-san!" You say as you approach the Captain drinking from his water bottle. Everyone's eyes shifted to you.

"You feel it too don't you?" You ask him as he tilts his head in confusion.

"Hinata and Kageyama's chemistry."
