23: unintended

The two didn't meet the required score for their exams so they had to take a supplementary test. You climbed the bus with no motivation whatsoever. You sat at the far back again and got ready to be emotional along the long ride. You suddenly see Sugawara waving at you.

"May I sit with you?" He asks with a smile and you just give him a nod. The bus soon starts moving and he offers you some food.

"Rough night?" He asks you.

"Huh?" You ask.

"You just look really tired. Or is it...sad?" He says as you flinch.

"When I saw Kageyama a while ago too, he didn't seem too well. Did you two fight?" He asks. You finally give in and tell him the entire story. You didn't know what it was but Sugawara had this warm aura surrounding him that you felt like you could tell him absolutely anything.

"I see." He says as you look down and play with your fingers.

"But how do you feel about him?" He asks and your eyes widen.

"I've never actually thought about it because if I do, I'm scared of what might happen." You say.

"Scared? Why scared? Kageyama doesn't seem like the player." Sugawara says.

"It's not that. I'm scared of loving again when they're not my soulmate. I'm scared that what happened with Oikawa might happen again. It's scary to trust someone again and be so vulnerable to that one person that they know everything about you and in the end, they just hurt you and leave you." You finally say.

"I believe that if you're truly sure of how you feel for someone, you just have to take a leap of faith and love." Sugawara says with a smile.

"How about you Suga-san? Do you like someone?" You say as he winced and his eyes shift to Daichi. You suddenly cough.

"U-Uhh I haven't even said anything yet!!" He says, flailing his arms around.

"I'm not surprised though. You two are perfect for each other." You say as he smiles while blushing.

"Have you seen his tattoo, though?" You ask, taking a bite off your Onigiri.

"No and I understand how you are feeling, truly. There's that risk. But I don't even know if I have a chance with Daichi."

"Everyone has a chance." You say.

"You won't understand. It's just that I don't know if he's attracted to boys." He says coyly.

"I don't know what his sexuality is but all I know is that his eyes twinkle when he's looking at you and that you two complement each other very well." You say.

"You really think so?" He says as you smile and give him a nod.

"Well, whatever. Let's go back to you. I'm pretty sure Kageyama feels the same for you but he's just not that good at expressing his feelings. Give him time and show him you're genuine. That's all I can say." He says and suddenly the bus comes into a halt. Daichi suddenly stands up.

"Alright, everyone! We're here!" He says as everyone climbs down from the bus. The moment you stood from your seat, you felt off. You forgot to take your meds as you are carsick.

"A-Are you ok?" Sugawara asks you as you weren't able to walk straight and almost tripped when you came down from the bus.

"I-I'm fine." You say but you could feel your body giving up. Suddenly, you felt strong arms support your back. You look up to see Kuroo smirking at you.

"Still carsick huh, babe?" He says as he puts your arms around him and start walking inside.

"You are so lucky I don't feel well because I would've already punched the hell out of you." You say. You suddenly stop walking and grab Sugawara's hand.

"I'm fine, Tetsu. I'll stay with my team." You say. Sugawara puts his arm on your waist to support you.

"Let's sit first." He says as he leads you to a nearby bench.

"Let's stay here until you feel better." He says.

"What?! You guys should go and start warming up. You'll have so many matches today. Don't worry about me." You say with a smile, but your pale face and weak voice made the entirety of Karasuno and even Nekoma worried. Suddenly, you saw a bus come into a halt in the parking place. Some boys with white and cyan jackets suddenly went down from the bus.

"Ugh this is just great..." You say as you try to cover your face. Sugawara took notice of this and saw the Aoba Johsai players.

"Ah crap." Sugawara says.

"Oh? Is that f/n?" Oikawa says and was about to run to you but was stopped by Iwaizumi who grabbed his ear.

"Let her be." He says. They were then greeted by some of the other players as well as Nekoma.

"Oh! Great to see you Kuroo-chan." Oikawa says sarcastically.

"Never thought I would see your face again, Uglykawa." He says as both of them eye each other. They were both pulled away by their teammates.

"I am so not in the mood for this." You say.
