13: night night

"What?!" You scream at him making him flinch.

"What?!" He says back at you in a louder voice as he sits up to look at you still standing by the door.

"What are you doing here? How did you even get past Daichi's sight?" You ask.

—approximately 30 minutes ago

"Daichi-san," Kageyama says as he approaches the sleepy Captain.

"No, you may not have a run, Kageyama. It's too late alr-,"

"May I sleep with f/n?" He asks making all the other members gasp and flinch in unison.

"Oy, Kageyama. Are you trying to make a move on her?" Tanaka asks with Nishinoya by his side with a dark look on their faces.

"N-,"

"Because we are so proud of you! We never thought you had it in you! Wow, actually asking to sleep with her when you aren't even together yet. You really are on another level," Kageyama started waving his hands around at every word Nishinoya says.

"I-It's nothing like that." He says as Daichi raises his eyebrow at him.

"F/n is afraid of the dark. She wasn't even able to sleep last night." He finally explains.

"Ah. Probably why she seemed so tired a while ago." Daichi says in realization.

"But still, Kageyama. You are still a teenage boy." Tanaka says.

"What does that have anything to with my respect and care for her?" He retorts making all the boys gape at his words.

"Wah," They all said in unison.

"I would like to accompany her in her room. If you let me, Daichi-san." He says with a bow and Daichi looks at Sugawara. They both give each other a nod.

"I don't think the Coach and Sensei would find this favorable but as long as you two don't get caught by them and she gives you her permission, I don't see any problem with it." He says as Kageyama thanks him and rushes to go to your room.

'What am I even doing?' Kageyama thinks to himself as he knocks on your door.

—end of flashback

"T-That's really sweet of you Tobio." You say after he explains.

"I'm only doing this because you will be useless if you're too tired to help and train with us." He says as he lays down on his futon and turns so he won't face you. You smile as you understood what he meant and you knew what his intention was despite his tough exterior.

"Still thank you so much, Tobio." You say as you crawl beside his futon and give a soft peck on the back of his head. He felt his cheeks burn up and closed his eyes shut so he won't make any reaction and noise. You go back to your futon and lay flat, facing the ceiling.

"Good night." You say.

"G-good night." He says back.

You fell asleep quickly as feeling Kageyama's presence, despite it being the dark made it seem like you had the brightest night light in the world. Once he heard your soft snores, he turned to face you. He admired your peaceful face which was usually in a frown during practices when the others couldn't perform well. He loved seeing you like this. No worries, no sadness and he mostly loved the fact that you looked like that with him because that's how you make him feel. Sure, you make him a mess too but you make him feel like he could truly be himself around you and for that, he is thankful. He breathes through his nose as he looks at you one last time and gets some strands of your hair away from your face.

"You really are one of a kind, f/n." He says and finally falls asleep.
