21: daycare

You were cooking your breakfast when you suddenly heard someone ring the doorbell. You open the window to see Kageyama standing outside your gate.

"Oy l/n it's cold in here. Let's go!" He says but you weren't even ready yet.

"Just come in first! The gate isn't locked." You say as Kageyama enters your gate. You unlock your door and he turned the knob to see you in your pajamas. You were wearing an oversized hoodie and short shorts. As soon as he saw you, he shut the door quickly.

"K-Kageyama get in here first. You're about 2 hours early!" You say as he goes in your house whilst avoiding your gaze.

"Uh yeah sorry this is how I usually look at home." You say but unintentionally, you gave Kageyama some very different thoughts about it.

"You want something to eat? To drink?" You ask as he says no so you proceed to cook your scrambled egg. He liked seeing you liked that so he couldn't help but stare but when you turned to get the salt and pepper, he quickly looked away from you.

"I just realized that I did forget to tell you when to meet." You say as you take a spoonful of rice.

"Yeah I can't believe you made me wake up at 5 in the morning." He says.

"I was planning to message you, anyway! I never told you to wake up that early." You say as he just grunts as a reply.

"Are you sure you don't want some?" You ask Kageyama who was sitting on the couch but before he could answer, the grumbling of his stomach answered for him. Now, he had no choice. You pat the chair beside you, signaling him to sit there. He sits on the chair as he realizes that you two were too close to each other. Your knees were even touching. You turn to get a spoonful of your omurice and turn to Kageyama.

"Ahhh," You say as you opened your mouth and offered the spoonful of food to Kageyama. He didn't know what to do and was very flustered so he just proceeded to open his mouth. As soon as he tasted your meal, his eyes sparkled.

"This is pretty good." He says, trying not to smile.

"Oh really? That's great to hear." You say with a grin. You take one more bite and tell Kageyama that the food you left would be his as you go up to your room to take a bath.

You went downstairs to Kageyama fidgeting on his phone so you called for him. You looked simple yet pretty. You went out your house and made your way to the day care center.

"Are you excited? For the training camp?" You ask him, trying to make conversation.

"I guess?" He says quietly but soon spoke again.

"But Oikawa-san would be there." He says as you sigh because you practically tried to forget it.

"I wish I could just bang my head on the concrete and forget about him completely." You say with a soft chuckle.

"But then you'll forget me too." He says but before you could reply, you were suddenly embraced by a little kid.

"L/n-san!" The little girl says as she snuggles her face onto your tummy.

"Ah Akemi-chan! You're early." You say as you hold her hand and bow at her parents.

"So what do you do here?" Kageyama asks you as you start walking inside.

"Well sometimes we paint, play, role play or sing and dance." You say as he huffs.

"But today, we have volleyball." You smile at him and he was actually curious to see how little kids would play volleyball. Suddenly, one of the kids cried.

"S-scary," One of the kids say, pointing to Kageyama's smiling face.

"What?!" He says back making the kid cry more.

"T-tobio just calm down." You say as his face softens a little bit.

"I'm not scared of you!" One of the kids say as he starts punching Kageyama's legs, softly.

"Akihiro! That's bad. Do you even know who that is? Do you guys even know who this is?" You say excitedly as the kids looked at you with curiosity. Kageyama just stares at you blankly.

"Your boyfriend?" One of the little kids say as you and Kageyama both blush.

"N-no! What are you talking about? This guy right here, is an amazing volleyball player! One of these days, you'll even see him in your TVs." You say as the kids' eyes sparkled and Kageyama was just there standing, flustered as you cross your arms proudly.

"B-but, you're cooler l/n-san! I've seen you on the TV a few years ago." One of the kids say.

"Well you guys haven't seen him play, haven't you?" You say as you lead the kids to this mini indoor gym in the daycare center. It really was small and the floor was carpeted, just in case someone suddenly trips.

"Does the ball even bounce in here?" Kageyama whispers to you as you laugh a little bit.

"Why don't you show us then? If he's a such an amazing volleyball player?" One of the kids say as you give Kageyama one of the balls. It wasn't even a volleyball and it was soft. It was scary to spike as it felt like it would pop.

"What am I supposed to do with this?" He says.

"Jump serve!" You say as you told the kids to watch from the side so they wouldn't get hit. Kageyama looked at the ball sheepishly, afraid that it would pop if he squeezed it. Kageyama throws the ball up in the air, jumps only a little bit and hits the ball flawlessly. As soon as the ball hit the ground, it lost all its air and popped.

"Cool!" They all said in unison and Kageyama was just standing there, flustered, yet again. The day went one with Kageyama and you teaching them the basics and having fun with the kids. Some of the kids would still tease the two of you and you both would get shocked at how effective their teases were despite them being just little kids. There were times you would have to remind Kageyama though that they are kids as sometimes he would get mad when they don't get it right.

But overall, you were amazed at how patient he was. You wave goodbye at the kids while they hugged you and some of them even hugging Kageyama resulting in him trying not to smile. You walk home by sunset and stared at the pretty colors the sky had.

"Thank you for today by the way." You say as he nodded.

"You were amazing. The kids loved you!" You say as the side of his lips curved a little bit.

"Well, I love you." Was what was in his head and he had to slap his head just to stop himself from actually saying it.
