Jeongguk was confused and worried.
His and Taehyung's life together had been going better than he could anticipate. They were so in tune now it was as if they could read the others mind. He felt like Taehyung had been in his life for years and wouldn't trade it for the world.
But then Taehyung changed.
He didn't revert back to the behavior of when they first met, but Taehyung became distant eversince Jeongguk confessed everything about his past with Katie Leung. Jeongguk could tell Taehyung was repressing anger and trying not to lash out at others. Each time he asked what was wrong, Taehyung told him he was fine.
It finally clicked one afternoon while Jeongguk was setting up the schedule for the next class of trainees. He was splitting the timing of training sessions and counted the days the new recruit would be in live training. When his gaze fell on a particular date, his breath caught.
It's the third year of his break up with his fiancè...
He then tried to called Taehyung's senior officer and requested to speak with him since he wasn't answering his phone, but had been informed he'd already left for the day.
Jeongguk decided to cut the day short, telling Lieutenant Sejin he was heading home and he'd see him tomorrow. He admonished himself on the drive home for being such an idiot. Of course Taehyung would be jealous because of his selfishness. He wanted to apologize for being centered solely on his needs and vowing to be there anytime.
He decided to drop by Namjin's terrace for a moment before he headed back to Taehyung's apartment. When he arrived, he saw their curtains were drawn and knew it was unusual, because the couple loved to let the sunlight in.
Not thinking much, he went straight to the front door but halting his steps when he entered their living room. He saw someone's thin body frame with long black hair. She was huddled with her knees pressed against her chest and crying violently.
When Seokjin reached out for her, she instinctively batted his hands away.
Jeongguk could only watched helplessly by the door until she looked up, then Jeongguk's anguished expression crumbling as she fell into Seokjin's open arms."I'm s-- sorry Jin oppa... I'm so sorry.. I didn't mean to push you like that," She apologizes through her sobs.
"What nonsense! You don't have to be sorry, Kat. We're here for you." Seokjin countered.
"He's g- getting worse!" Kat whispered, "I'm tired of screaming for h- help! He always kick me and beats me with anything he c- could grab. I can't deal with his temper anymore. It's driving me crazy!!"
"Calm down Kat, please..." Seokjin patted her petite back in hopes of comforting her and still didn't aware of Jeongguk's appearance. But the two suddenly flinched with an angry voice boomed the living hall. "Kat? What the hell are you doing here?!"
