Y/N
"Where are we going?" I ask with a teasing smile as my best friend drags me down the hall. "Fear not, Shorty number 2! It's a surprise!" I scoff at the nickname she gave me. "Well what is the surprise?"
We arrive in front of the mess hall, and she opens the doors wide. The room is full with banners and balloons, joined with many presents and food. Including a large cake! All the women in the Survey Corps are there, cheering for me.
"It's your baby shower!" Petra says with a bright smile as she walks up to me. I wonder where Levi is for one moment before I remember that this is a baby shower and only female go to them. Stereotypically anyway.
I was forced to go to many baby showers when I was younger, and all the women used to tell me how wonderful it was to have a child. "Guys... I don't know what to say. Thank you isn't enough! The pregnancy was so unexpected and I-"
"It's okay. We did this for you. Enjoy it!" Petra smiles, and I nod, walking into the room. "You're lucky Eyebrows is your brother. He persuaded the commander to allow you to have the Shower in here."
"Yeah, I guess I'm lucky in that department. Say, Hanji, don't you like, have a crush on the Commander?" I tease and her face goes beat red. All the girls giggle, and I turn to shut the doors so no boys can listen in to our conversations.
"Well..! You got pregnant at 17! You can't say anything!" I laugh lightly, rubbing my slightly swollen stomach. "Most women from Stohess get pregnant at 16. I'm late if anything." Nanaba runs up to me and grabs my hands with a smile.
"We've contacted your grandfather, he's so excited! He's coming over soon to see you, and I thought you'd like to know that Levi helped us plan this out." I tilt my head, eyes widening in shock.
"He did? Hah! He couldn't even plan a proper birthday party back in the day." I laugh, walking towards the food. "What did he plan for your birthdays then?" Nifa asks, smiling gently at me.
"Make-out sessions." I smirk, taking a bite out of an apple. Hanji cackles, putting her arm around my shoulder. "Of course he did! What is Levi like around you?" All the girls huddle around me. Most of the girls 'secretly' had a crush on Levi, it made me jealous at first, but then I realised that they don't have a chance with him.
"He's so cold on the outside, but he's so kind and gentle. And he-" I suddenly feel an agonising pain in my stomach. I gasp out in pain and fall to my knees, clutching my stomach tightly. "Y/N?!"
I see blood begin to stain my white jeans. I look up at the girls with a fearful expression. "Get Levi!" The doors slam open and my husband comes running towards me, dropping to his knees beside me and pulling me to his chest.
"Levi, I'm scared.. what's going on?" He shushes me and strokes my hair softly. "It's going to be okay. Calm down, can you stand? We're going to see a doctor." He supports me in standing with a worried frown on his face.
Everyone moves away to give me space as he supports me in getting the hell out of the mess hall.
At the doctors
"Okay. There are some complications with the pregnancy." I frown and Levi reaches over to grab hand. I squeeze it tightly in a panic. "Records show that you didn't absorb any sunlight for 8 years. And then, you were suddenly exposed to the sunlight again, so your body is having complications with... adapting."
"I'm sorry, I'm confused." I mumble, looking down at my lap. "What it means is that because you've been forced to adapt again, your reproduction organs are struggling to develop the child. So, it is most likely that the child will not make it through the pregnancy."
"Is there anything we can do to prevent this?" Levi asks, stroking my hand gently. The doctor shakes her head with a sad smile. "Unfortunately there's not. The only thing you can do is pray for a miracle. But, you won't grow a baby bump. If you don't in the next month, you have to come back and we need to surgically remove the child."
"What if... What if I do grow a baby bump?" I ask, and the doctor smiles sadly at me. "I know this sounds absurd, but you will still need to get the child removed. We can give you a chance, and if your organs show to be healthy then you can go through the pregnancy with daily checks. But even if you do grow the bump, with the complications still in check, the baby will develop faulty, and you and the child will not make it through child birth."
I gasp sadly and tears begin to well up in my eyes. "We'll pray for a miracle, thank you." Levi says, and he helps me up. We leave the doctors office and into the streets. As soon as we do, I drop to my knees and begin to sob heavily.
Levi falls to my side and pulls me close to his check. He strokes my back and whispers reassuring words into my ears.
"We'll get through this, I promise."
