Slowly getting back into the gist of things. Updates may be slow because my depression is terrible at the moment, and I may or may not have completely skipped all my schoolwork and I may get a few detentions.... also heads up, I've recently realised that Hanji goes by they/them pronouns, so eventually I'm going to go back and change them in respect for anyone who does.

Levi

His heart nearly exploded in his chest as he hooked into various buildings, aiming to reach his house. Where his love was. This couldn't be a coincidence, this was planned. All of it, he knew it was. If Y/N wasn't okay, he wouldn't know what to do. She's been his life for so many years and it would be unbearable if he were to lose her.

"Y/N!" He hears the words spill of his tongue, though his entire body is numb. He goes into a state of shock as he stares at the forgotten ring on the ground. With shaky arms, he bends down and picks it up, identifying it as the one he slid onto her finger on their wedding day.

There was a blood stain on the floor. Hers no doubt; she was gone. As his mind tried to process what was going on, he felt his knees give out beneath him as he released a strained cry. It was as if his heart had been brutally ripped from his chest. A wound that could not be mended - they could try stitches, bandages, anything, but nothing would work. The pain will forever be there, and he will forever be hollow.

His arms reached up, grasping at nothing - though he had wished for her soft hands to hold his - but air particles. Reality would never set in for him, how could it be possible? How could she be gone? She was strong, stronger than him, stronger than everyone.

He didn't even want to think about the pain she must have experienced. Denial began to run through his veins, before being overtaken by rage as he pulls out his blades and going on a rampage. Soldiers in the distance could hear his pained cries and screams as he relentlessly sliced the nape of every Titan in his path.

Would he ever be able to overcome the pain? She had been a part of his life for years, she couldn't turn back on him now. However, the situation wasn't really her choice. His Y/N was gone, he thought, gone. His knees once again gave out as a fearful voice began speaking to him; he couldn't hear a thing. His ears began to ring before his cold, grey eyes rolled to the back of his head and darkness consumed him.

Dark, just like his life would be without her.

Time skip

"We are gathered here today to remember Y/N Smith. A Noble Section-Commander, Soldier and a wife - loved by many, she shall be missed." The voice ran through death's ears. For Levi couldn't feel a thing, it was all too surreal. He couldn't even feel Hanji's hand holding his tightly in reassurance, couldn't see the sorrowing gazes directed at him as he stared down at the floor.

"We will give our Section-Commander one final salute," Erwin begins with a strained voice as he stands at the front. Levi knew better, Erwin was hurting. He could tell he wanted nothing more then to collapse to the ground in tears. "Soldiers, let us give our hearts to Y/N Smith!" Levi could feel his hands raising to pull the Strongest Salute he had ever pulled as the tears finally broke free.

He knew everyone was trying not to look at him as silent tears ran down his pale cheeks. His eyes clenched shut as Hanji pulled him into their arms, rubbing his back comfortingly. Levi didn't want comfort, however in that moment, he needed it. He didn't want the reality to set in. He didn't want to live in a dark world where Y/N's smile couldn't brighten it.

He wiped his eyes and walked up to the front, handing Erwin her cloak and jacket. He pulls out his pocket knife and carves out her Survey Corps Emblem, the one thing she wore with so much pride.
