I gasp as I see Levi's head shoved into a puddle. I growl and adjust my blade, ready to kill whoever is behind that cloak.

A few months earlier

"I hope you've gone through the papers concerning the new formation that I have submitted beforehand." Keith Shadis says to Zackly, Erwin stood at his side. "If we can put it into practice, we should be able to lower our losses."

Zackly rolls his eyes. "Keith, of course I have read the report you turned in." He turns to Erwin. "The long distance scouting formation formation... the one who came up with this was you Erwin, correct?" Erwin nods, replying with a yes.

"I'm sincerely impressed." Erwin's expression remained emotionless. "Until now, expedition plans were placed more into the category of taking down the titans encountered by soldiers. However, this new plan is more about avoiding them? A marvellous change in perspective."

"I am honoured to receive such a compliment." He really wasn't. He didn't care. The conversation ends on Lobov's decision to abolish the Survey Corps. Erwin's only chance of discovering the truth.

However, Erwin had a scheme. Which gave them one last chance, but that caused a lot of trouble.

A few days before...? I think

"Oi, it's my turn for the supply run. Stop being so stupid." I scoff as Levi's arms are around my waist, preventing me from leaving. "Just be careful, Y/N." I nod with a grin, winking at him before walking out.

Levi

There's a light knock at our door, and I instantly sit up. "Tch, Y/N? Or..?" I ask, but instead someone walks in. He was wearing a cloak.

"I am a messenger sent by a certain man." I send him a glare. "Let me get to the point. It seems a man named Erwin Smith of the Survey Corps has an intention of capturing you and making you join the Survey Corps." Erwin Smith... that's Y/N's brother, I could get Y/N home.

"Once you're admitted I want you to steal the documents from him, and then.. if possible, take care of him." My eyes widen. No... I can't do that! I can't kill Y/N's brother.

I can't let them see my emotion. "So, a full-fledged member of society has come all the way down here to spout shitty nonsense? Has the sun caused something from your biological clock to screw up? Who would believe such a shitty story?"

"The reward is money and a place to live in the capital." All three of our eyes widen. "Y/N too?" Isabel asks and the messenger nods. Is it worth it? Is it worth killing her brother to give her her freedom? I'd be doing it for her, but it's too good to be true.

"This is becoming more and more shady. I'll pretend I didn't hear anything so fuck off back to the surface. Anything you say is a waste of time." Farlan interrupts me. "Levi, wait."

"I get the gist of what's going on, but this is all so sudden. There's no way we would be able to give you an answer right now. You understand right? We'll be sure to give it some thought."

"Very well, you have until tomorrow to give an answer. No one else is to hear of this conversation, especially your little girlfriend. She can come though. But, if you try anything, she gets it." On instinct, I stand up and shoot him my deadliest glare.

"We can't do this-" Farlan interrupts me. "We're gonna spy on him. Let's find out who this 'certain man' is." Isabel objects. "You're not thinking of accepting are you? Y/N-Sis doesn't even know about this!"

"Aside from the gold, being able to live up in the Capital... only someone like a noble or a big name merchant would be able to offer us lives that we could never imagine." I walk up to him. "Like Y/N. She's a noble. We can't do this, Erwin Smith is her brother, did you not pick up on that? Smith! Tsk. Y/N Smith."

"Besides, even if we do manage to obtain those documents, his next target will probably be us." Farlan shrugs. "Probably. And he said, if possible, we can just say it wasn't! We'll get the documents, and our target is that man. If we have those documents, we can threaten him with it!"

"Y/N will never speak to us again if we do this! No, she'll try to kill us. All she's ever wanted is to get back to her family. We'd be stopping that dream!" Farlan crosses his arms. "She doesn't have to know! This could be important! This could be our best chance!"

"Tch... fine. Y/N doesn't find out though."
