A/N - I don't particularly know when this will be released but I hope it will be soon! I'd like to thank you all for the incredible and heartwarming support I received from you all from the previous 2 chapters, it honestly made my day, and it has motivated me to write more. So honestly, thank you so much. I love you all.
Trigger Warning for Depression, and rumours!
1 year later
"Hey kid - get back here!" Y/N laughed as she ran after her daughter, her tiny little toddler legs waddling around the farm. She had recently learnt to walk and ever since then had been an ever-living pain to deal with. Y/N still shivered at the nightmare of finding Isabella in with the pigs.
"Tsk. That can be the baby's room."
She paused suddenly as the deep voice ran through her head. Who's voice was that? Y/N lifted her eyes towards the sun, Isabella's giggles seemingly dazed out for her. She was standing in the shade, away from the light, away from the exposure to the memories her mind was so craving to release, away from the man who was so desperate to hold her close.
Y/N knew she had been hearing the voice a lot more frequently, it seemed like a distant echo, and a blur. Something was almost pushing back her memory of the man, but she had been given a new motivation to find him. Mabel was right after all, she must have loved him. She could only imagine the suffering he had been going through.
She knew she had a clue though.
The Survey Corps was the only clue she could ever really think of. For a year she had been looking into how to sign up, but she wasn't sure she was completely ready. After all, she did have a child to look after, and she still remained to be struggling to regain the normal emotions a human should experience.
But all in all, Isabella deserved to have a father figure in her life. Who was to say he was alive, however? If he was in the Survey Corps -which is the most deadly regiment of them all- wouldn't he be dead? She didn't want to think about that, if fate was pulling her towards the Survey Corps, she knew she should listen.
"Our brat won't be joining."
Y/N smiled as she finally lifted Isabella up into her arms, pressing a large kiss to her cheek. She loved her daughter more than she loved herself, and her daughter loved her equally as much. Although, she found it strange of how Isabella's eyes were only the gleaming blue when she was around her. Albert and Mabel had pointed out that they were grey when she wasn't with her mother.
She had figured it was a unique trait, special to only her daughter. It only made her love her more, she knew she would love her daughter no matter what. No matter what trouble she got into, what her sexuality was, or who she chose to be with, she would love her. It's what a parent does.
Y/N hoped that the father of her daughter was waiting, waiting for them to return.
Little did she know, he actually was.
Levi
As the months passed, the rumours only grew worse for Levi. He grew more and more foul every single day he was apart from his wife, his best friend, his partner. Every single day, he could hear the voices of the cadets run through his brain, crashing against his eardrums, making it the only thing he was able to hear.
"His wife died."
"Are you sure she didn't just leave him?"
"I wouldn't be surprised if she did."
Of course, Hanji, Erwin and Miche had picked up on it, along with his squad. Hanji had tried their best to shut it down, but it never worked. Petra always insisted that they should mind their own business, but once again, nothing worked.
Levi was supposed to be hollow, he was supposed to be alone. He knew that the day his mother took her final breathe. But Y/N had been there for him, she had been there every single day from the age of eight. Glued to his side like an annoying speck of dust that he couldn't wash off - though that is what he wanted to think.
He knew better. Y/N was a prized jewel, something he treasured. She didn't look, or was fragile, which was what he liked about her. She was strong, independent, kind. Everything he wasn't, and he was so thankful he had her in the time he did, but he wasn't ready to let go. Even a year later, he never would be ready to let go.
His heart, his mind, his soul - they would always yearn for Y/N. There would always be a hollow space inside of him waiting for her to fulfil. She had held him close to her for so many years, protecting him from any harm, and he had done the same. Their love held no bounds, held no barriers. It was a bond of trust.
And yet, he still regretted trusting her that one day.
If he hadn't been so stupid, if he had insisted on staying with her, she would have had a chance of living, of still breathing, or still being here to hold him through his troubles, and he would be for her.
He would have gotten the chance to hold their daughter in his arms, he would have gotten the chance to swear to protect his baby from whoever she chose to love, he would have gotten the chance to raise her alongside his soulmate.
But of course, fate hated him.
"Do you think he's so foul because of his wife?"
"It's been a year, time to get over it don't you think?"
Levi clenched his fists, his eyes remained trained onto the floor. Or he tried to. But after one year of dealing with the constant rumours and whispers, Levi snapped. His head jerked up and he glared at the two cadets, his loud voice booming through the entire base. "I'm sure you know not to talk about your superiors like that. Tsk. Get out of my sight you insolent brats, I want the cafeteria spotless by the time I make my way down!"
He raised his sleeve to wipe away the flow of tears that began to make their way down his cheeks. The heavy pang in his heart was becoming too much for him to handle, too much for him to bear. Levi didn't know how much more of this constant suffering he could take.
He couldn't even process Hanji running towards him, their hands wrapping around his arms as they tried to get through to him. But Levi couldn't hear them, he couldn't process anything as he finally broke for the first time in a year.
His squad cleared the hallway, allowing access for Levi to have some space as he sobbed. He had endured so much, and had dealt with so much pain. None of them thought it was fair that he was forced to suffer like he was. Y/N should never have died, he shouldn't have been left alone.
1 year later
Y/N
"Y/N! Y/N, darling!" She turned her head to smile at Mabel, her hand wrapped around Isabella's smaller one. Her mother's tone sounded urgent, it made her eyebrows furrow in slight concern.
"Yes, what is it?" After seeing the look on her face, she decided it couldn't possibly be that bad. Mabel looked ecstatic, and a letter was clutched in her hand.
"They agreed, the trainee corps agreed! You can take Isabella with you, and you can join the Survey Corps when you complete your training!" Y/N could feel her chest warm up.
"I love you."
The man's voice echoed through her mind again as excitement began to buzz through her. Her love was waiting for her, and he wouldn't have to wait much longer.
Whoever is out there, whoever my heart is yearning for, I'll find you. I promise, I'll be with you again.
I promise I'll remember you.
SORRY FOR THE LONG WAIT FOR THE CHAPTER! I hope it is good enough, I have been dealing with a lot of negative thoughts right now but writing is my new distraction from the pain I'm going through.
Levi's slowly losing his grip on humanity, will Y/N be able to mend him on time?
Fun fact, which is kinda (18+) rated, so only read this if you're dirty minded!
Y/N and Levi swap roles in the bedroom. 😌✌🏻
