A/N - Woooo another chapter! I'm also using a keyboard and a larger screen to type this so I apologise if the paragraph shaping is a bit weird!! Anyways, this is the last chapter to the 'Levi's years' arc, and it will only be 5 more chapters until our favourite couple reunite! But of course, we need the grand return of badass Y/N before that, so expect some of our favourite Smith scenes!

Also, this will be quite short, as it's basically just a quick representation of Levi's nightmares, I also don't really know what to write for it and I don't want to accidentally fall into Writer's Block. Levi will also be rather out of character in this chapter. But we can forgive him for that. (I'm sorry for making him suffer so much.)

His heartbeat quickened, pulsing faster and faster as he ran through the dense forest. His face held no expression, as per usual, but his internal panic was one he had never felt before. His breathing was ragged, shaking heavily though his face showed no sign of it. It never did, and it never would - not as long as he could help it, anyway.

The rain pelted down on top of him, the clouds releasing ear-piercing yells of thunder, almost overbearing him as he fastened his pace. He didn't know what direction he was exactly heading in, but he knew it was important that he got to it as quick as possible.

As he continued to run, he slipped on a weak piece of mud. Levi found himself grunting at the sharp pain in his ankle. Slowly, he forced himself to sit up, observing the surroundings around him. He looked at his lap, his grey eyes widening ever so slightly at what he saw. Two feet stood at his knees.

Levi knew then it was a dream.

It had to be.

Isabel was stood in front of him, though she was wearing an expression he had never seen on her before, ever. She had a look of disgust on the face that had always held such gleaming eyes, her mouth turned upwards into a scowl on the lips that never failed to hold a smile, words of hatred ready on the tongue of which always released a loud and boisterous laugh, one that was capable of making anyone join in.

Next was Farlan. He was never one to laugh as much as Isabel did, but he always had that warm and welcoming smile and kind eyes. That was replaced with a disappointed frown and a sad smile. "You left us to die, Levi."

Levi almost felt too shocked to speak. What? He had never- had he? Had he really left them to die that day? Left them to suffer? He shook his head in denial, denial of their accusations; the accusations that he thought were true. They had to be, didn't they? "That was never my intention."

"Oh really, Levi-bro? Then how come we're not here right now?" Isabel released a laugh, though it was more taunting then it was cheerful. Levi once again felt a tightness in his chest.

"You killed us, Levi!"

"You left us to die."

"Did you ever really care about us?"

"Was it all just fake to you?"

The words repeated inside his head, over and over and over. They were ringing, sending hard and painful pulsation through his brain. He raised his shaky hands to grip his hair, squeezing tightly as he shook his head. "It ain't like that, you hear me?! I... I cared about you both!"

"Well you failed to show that, didn't you?!"

"No, I-"

"You're the reason this happened to us.'"

A strained cry erupted from his throat as blood began to seep out of Isabel's throat. Her head snapped off, barely clinging to a small thread of skin as she yelled words of hate and blame at Levi. Blood poured out around Farlan's waist. Though, the most terrifying thing about it was the cold, dead and lifeless eyes that the pair wore. Levi didn't feel like he could take much more. "Y/N!"

And so he finally called for her, clenching his eyes shut and repeatedly shaking his head. "Y/N! Make it stop, please!" He cried out again, his throat tightening at every word he spoke. Trembles wracked throughout his entire body, consuming him in the fear and self hatred that now controlled his entire life; his entire being.

He almost sighed in relief when he felt the familiar, warm arms wrapping around him. His face landed into the chest of the woman he loved, and he automatically inhaled the soothing scent and the warmth of his soulmate. A touch he craved and missed every single day. Y/N.. his Y/N. He wrapped his arms around her, squeezing her as tightly as he could, taking advantage of every last second of it.

That was until he felt the blood soaking through his shirt. He hesitantly opened his eyes and looked down. Blood was pouring out of his wife's torso, staining his clothes. He raised his head reluctantly, and was met with dead e/c eyes, that were once full of life and happiness, so beautiful to him. "Y/N... please, no."

"You didn't protect me, Levi, did you?"

"Y/N, I-"

"I'm dead because of you, our child is dead because of you."

"Please don't say that."

"Admit it."

Before he could open his mouth again, the world crumbled beneath him, and he fell, his arm instinctively moving up to grab her's. But she didn't save him. She wasn't here anymore, and it was all his fault.

Filling, falling, falling... lost.

"Y/N!"

"Y/N PLEASE!"

"Y/N!"

He sat up in bed, his sweat mixed tears streaming down his face, in a constant rhythm of despair. His eyes landed on them all stood at the end of his bed, but once again, Y/N wasn't there. He clenched his eyes shut, clutching his wife's Survey Corps emblem to his chest as he released a small, single whimper. "Y/N please.. come back."

The h/c woman released a smile of pride as she stood first in the ranking of the Top 10 cadets. She had joined the 104th trainee corps, and she had persevered to the very end. Some had questioned how she had done it. How she had managed training to be a soldier alongside raising her daughter. Her answer was simple. Love. The love she held for both her daughter and her mysterious husband had helped her live, help her survive.

"Mama. We go find daddy now?" Isabella asked her, and Y/N couldn't help but admire how much her baby had grown. Her large blue eyes stared up at her in glee, sparkling in the happiness she had inherited from her, the eyes that only shone blue when around her mother. Her smooth raven hair, her shortness in stature, her pale and fair skin. Y/N could only assume she was the exact image of her father, and she was extremely proud of that.

"Yes, my love, we go find daddy now." She lifted up her daughter and pressed a kiss to her cheek, erupting a giggle from her throat. She wouldn't turn back now, not when she was so close.

I'll be with you soon, whoever you are.
