Chapter 18

I want to get this chapter up so proper updates can return, and I think the rewritten version of the fall from the Original is good so I'm going to use that. ^^ I'm just going to make a few changes to the chapter for more character development but other than that that should be it. I'm so sorry for the long wait.

His breathe quickens as he runs faster and faster through Shinganshina, avoiding titans from all directions. "Y/N! Where are you?!" He calls out, desperate to find her. He couldn't lose her, not now.

Y/N

I'm awoken to my husband hurriedly sitting up in bed with a silent gasp. His whole body is covered in sweat as he breathes heavily. "Levi? What's wrong?" I ask, sitting up. Did he have a nightmare? That's quite common with him, ever since Isabel and Farlan passed away.

"Nothing, brat." He pauses, turning to look towards me with his usual scowl that I came to love so much. "Are you sure you don't want me to stay behind? She is due any day now." I smile to myself at his repetition. He always worried for nothing. "Levi, if I didn't want you to go, I'd tell you. But you need to."

I slowly climb out of bed -being mindful of my swollen stomach- and pull his uniform out of the wardrobe for him to change into. I walk up to him and press a kiss to his cheek before leaving the room to make breakfast.

"And you're sure?" He asks again for the 100th time that morning as I'm pushing him towards the door. I nod with a small grin and pull on his cloak, tightening the button around his neck. "Yes." He leans in for a kiss, which I happily comply and peck his slightly-chapped lips happily.

"I love you, Levi Smith." I grin at him before pushing him out of the door and shutting it behind him, leaning against the doorframe with a content sigh. I loved Levi with all my heart, and we'd love our baby together too.

Little did I know that was the last time I'd see him for a long time.

I hear a soft knock at my door. I put my broom down and walk to it, opening it and looking down. "Hello Eren, Armin and Mikasa. Need anything?" Eren smiles brightly, jumping up and down.

"Is it true, Y/N!? Is your baby due any day now?!" I smile and nod, bending down and ruffling his hair. "Yes it is." He gives me a toothy grin. "My dad told me to check up on you. He saw your husband leave on his horse." Dr Jaeger had been checking up on me every few weeks to make sure the baby was healthy. We sincerely appreciated the help and grandfather insisted on paying him handsomely for his services.

I nod. "Yes, Levi's going on an expedition. And when this baby's born, I get to go retake my place as Section Commander as well." I smile, looking at the walls - they always had a sense of enclosure, and confinement, the feeling of leaving the walls was always relieving and breathtaking - even though there were the risks of being eaten by titans. "What's it like out there?" Armin asks me, smiling brightly. He had always been curious about the outside world.

"Beautiful. The titans don't help though, but there's loads of flowers, strange animals, rivers... its phenomenal." Eren smiles eagerly. "Want to come out and play? Maybe you can come have tea with my mum!"

I nod slightly. "Okay. That sounds fun." I'd gotten to know Carla quite well over the past few weeks. I understand her love and protectiveness for her children. She wanted what's best for them - which is safety and a stable home. Something every mother wanted for their children.

"Hey look! It's the losers." Eren growls but I push him behind me. "Well that's not very nice is it?" He looks up at me scared. "Apologise and go." I frown, and he nods. "Sorry.." he and his friends then run off.
