"Hello Mrs. Cartwright." Janet smiled tightly, as she brought her hands up through her thick tresses. I thought she looked exactly like Michael in the moment. "Would you like to sit?" She waved her arm toward the bed.
I immediately dropped down on the bed, my mouth still hanging down. It was a total shock, his sister? Visiting me? Why?
"Please," I managed. "Call me Diana." Call me Annie, I remembered.
She rolled her eyes, it was a quick moment but I caught it. "So, Diana, how are you feeling?"
"Better." I gulped. "Better enough to get out."
"Good." She said sternly, looking at my family. "Can we have the room?"
Freya nodded, and she and Gloria left the room.
Once they left, Janet looked at me, her shoulders sagged. "Diana, I love my brother. There's not a second we've been apart."
Why is she telling me this?
"If you know...where he is...please tell me." Her voice was gripped with tears and I felt sad for her.
I couldn't lie. Not anymore.
"Check the Reese Hotel in Gale Square." I say softly. "He's okay."
