"Aren't you going to let me in?" Richard asked, his hands were behind his back. And he was leaning forward to peek into the house.

I pushed door closed behind me and stepped onto the front porch, I folded my arms over my chest and took a sigh. "What are you doing here, Richard?" I asked, pursing my lips. Trying to hide the fact that I was terrified.

"You know how long I've known you, right Diana?" I didn't answer so he just continued. "Right. And you know how many times I've seen your hair, your legs, and everything else I'm sure you wouldn't like me to say right now?" I still didn't respond and he just went on with that sly look.

"So you must know how easy it was to recognize you in this." He shoves something he's been holding behind his back at me.

I look down at it and realize it's the tabloid I'd been reading before, the one about Michael and his mystery girl. Who was me.

"What are you talking about? This isn't me." The lie fell easily from my lips before I could think it over. And there it was, the deceit of me. Diana Cartwright wasn't just dirty, she was a liar too.

"Really, Wesley? What are you doing with the most famous singer in the world?" He inquires, tilting his head from side to side as if he can figure me out. Like he can fix me with his eyes.

"I'm not doing anything. And I think you should get off of my porch, there's an elderly lady across the street who's watching us. Would you like me to scream?" I offer, turning and closing my hand on the knob of the door.

I pause for a second when I realize my hand is trembling uncontrollably. I take a breath, before opening the door. I try to close the door quickly but Richard slips inside. "What are you doing? Get out."

"What makes you think I won't finish what I started in Virginia right now?" He asked, as if he was running out things to threaten me this.

I hoped that was the case.

I opened the door again. "Because I'm in the public eye now, Dad." I emphasize, tilting my head to the side with a snarky grin. "Any thing you do to me will be plastered on tomorrow morning's tabloid."

He clenches his jaw and then his fists. I'm getting to him. Good.

I indicate my head toward the door. "Now get out and don't come back." He roughly leaves the house, piercing me with the evil eye.

As I see him disappear down the block, I shut the door. I let out a loud sigh of relief. That was a good act I put on. I should use it more often.

I lock the doors to my house, really proud of myself this time.
