"I will never forgive you for this. You got that? Never."
And Janet hadn't spoken a word to Michael since Feb. 22, she'd avoided him in anyway possible. She even got Jermaine to follow up on it too.
Everyone except his proud mother hated him down to his bones for what he did to Diana. And maybe he hated himself a bit too.
He was protective of his daughter, the first few months with Diana, and then he began to like her. That fire in her eyes, or the strength she held. But he also knew she was keeping something big from him, something that made her sad everyday. He suspected it had something to do with her family.
But love..., he truthfully didn't know what he felt for her.
Before he could think any harder, or deeper, Rue made a giggling sound. He grinned a bit, slipping the rubber band he'd been playing with in his pocket.
Michael had been lying on his back in the Garth Nixon Building, they were on the third floor. In the room he used to share with Nadia before she disappeared from his life for good.
Getting on his feet from the bed, Michael approached the crib and let Rue have his thumb, which she sucked on vigorously, making it purple.
"You're a Firecracker." Michael remarked, getting to his knees in front of the crib, pushing back her soft baby hair. "Like someone else I know."
He mused of Diana's short temper, and had a longing to hear it at the moment. He sighed, wishing things would be easier.
Her face began to redden and cries erupted from her lips. Michael sighed, knowing the only thing that would calm her.
:: "I am your joy," he sang softly, watching her redness fade away and the cries to pause on her lips. Smiling, he continued: "Your best of joy..."
The chime of his cell phone sliced through the air, and he had to stop singing. Rue attacked the silence with her loud cries. Michael sighed of disappointment, heading over to the dresser and grabbing his phone.
To his shock, it was a text from Janet.
Get your ASS over to the RANCH, SURPRISE, SURPRISE BROTHER! Let's see how cowardly you act now - Dunk (Janet)
He swallowed down the lump in his throat. What could this be?
