⊱ Michael's POV
My hand was still clamped over Janet's mouth, I could feel her hot breath on the inside of my palm. It was the only comforting thing at the moment. Then we heard the hard footsteps on the stairs.
Even though we were in the closet of her bedroom, I leaned forward and watched through the cracks of her bedroom closet, so did she and I felt a tear fall from her eyes.
The door to her bedroom opened, and someone stepped inside. We could only see legs. I sucked in a breath through my teeth.
This person had skinny legs, and I watched as they went to Janet's bathroom and checked inside as if they'd find something there. The person was breathing hard, it was a familiar breathing.
"Gloria?" The person called out and ended with a sigh.
Wait.
I knew that voice.
It wasn't just a person, it was Diana.
Relief spilled over my bones like cold water, as I prepared to make myself known to Diana when Janet's door opened and someone else walked in.
