I snuck out. I did, really. I had awoke to realize James had still been asleep, got dressed and rushed out of his apartment.
And I had showered away my regret and then went downstairs to cook some food. It's been a long time since my apartment smelled like something other than winter air.
I had just gotten done eating some syrup-smothered pancakes. It was the one food I was actually able to cook.
I grabbed the remote and turned the television on.
First thing I realized when 24HOUR News came up, was that James Bartholomew was not on the screen.
There was a woman instead, her name Cheryl Kennon. "I'm sorry, I know you all were expecting our charming James Bartholomew, but he was sent to the Mathis General hospital this morning after-"
And that was all I needed to hear before hopping up from my seat, grabbing purse, keys and jacket and then flying out the door.
