Chapter 25

I'm waking up this morning thinking to myself, "how did I end up so lucky?" I'm laying in bed next to Erica and I couldn't stop smiling about last night. She gave me one of the most romantic nights that I've ever had in a while. She put a lot of time and energy to make sure that the night was special. She only wanted it to be about us and to celebrate the new year with me. Everything was just right. And what made everything even better was her telling me that she's willing to wait until I'm ready and comfortable to go that next step with her and have sex. Most people would just leave and not care about the others feelings but Erica is different. She told me she wanted me for me, not for sex and I think I developed more of a deeper connection with her at that moment.

We talked almost all night about our resolutions for the new year and what we wanted out of this relationship. She told me that she wanted things to be different than her last relationship with her ex, Rich. She didn't have to explain herself about the past but I'm kinda glad she did. She told me the awful things he has done to her in the past and how he really did break her heart. I just couldn't help but to think how can anyone treat her so badly when she gives her heart and soul like that. I promised her that I will never do Erica like that like how Rich did. I just wanna be there and support her in whatever she wants to do. I just hope she does the same for me since I've been thinking more and more about wanting to start hosting gigs like she does. I hope she understands that I never wanna just use her for my own personal gain and that I want her help with this.

I'm still laying in bed with Erica, watching her sleep so peacefully. I can stay like this all day with her if I could, she looks so beautiful when she's sleeping. I'm slowly touching her hair back when I get a phone call.

Cyn: hello?

Mary: hey Cyn, happy new year!

Cyn: hey Mary. Happy New Year to you too.

Mary: so how did you enjoy your night?

Cyn: like you don't know. Erica told me that you knew about this the whole time and helped her set up yesterday.

Mary: well I had to make sure you enjoyed your night. Did you?

Cyn: Mary, things were so good last night. Erica showed me that she really wants this to work out between us.

Mary: I know. She really does love you girl. What did y'all do for the rest of the night? Did you get any last night? Lol

Cyn: Mary! Lol no we didn't do that. We just talked almost all night about our resolutions and what we want in this relationship for the new year.

Mary: damn, I could of sworn Erica would of tried to at least try and get some lol.

Cyn: you are too much. But no, I thought the same thing last night but Erica told me that she wants to make sure that I'm ready to have sex. She doesn't want to pressure me.

Mary: awwh that's so cute. She really does care about your feelings.

Cyn: I know. The thing that really made me realize that she wants this to work was she told me about her last relationship with Rich.

Mary: oh boy. She actually told you about that?

Cyn: yes. Wait, did you know about that too Mary?

Mary: well... maybe a little.

Cyn: Mary...

Mary: okay, okay. Me and Erica talked about that last time we spoke. I wanted to make sure she's really into this relationship and not stuck on the past.
