Day Two | Friday | March 11th

The next morning Logan, Roman, and Patton had gotten up before Virgil. They were standing around the island in the middle of the kitchen talking in hushed voices, "... maybe we rushed into this by telling him we'd protect him" Logan said before taking a sip of his coffee.

"No, Logan, he needs our help." Patton's argued, "He's not safe with them. You saw it."

"He has survived five years with the man, he'll be fine," Logan said, his voice rising just slightly

"How do you know that?" Roman jumped into the conversation, he had mostly been trying to stay neutral but he did have to agree with Patton "Some of those bruises he had were too old to be from the guys we found him with. And considering we didn't even touch the guy until a week ago, and only his arm at that we know it wasn't us."

"He's powerful-"

"He can't hurt us with that cuff on" Patton interrupted, "Logan, he's agreed to help us. I know he hasn't been able to answer every question but he's answered most. And we can ask him again later. He's just scared. You would be too if you were him"

"We can't all always be watching him. We have jobs. Roman has his theatre. What are we going to do, bring him with us? Or leave him here where he can possibly plot against us?" Logan said

"We don't all have work at the same time every day," Roman said, "We can adjust our schedules and one of us will always be here with him. Being heroes is our job too. You're going to risk the safety of hundreds so you can what? Work in front of a computer all day? Go to boring meetings you don't even like? Get passed up for promotions that you deserve?"

Logan stared at his friends, they hadn't argued like this in a very long time, it hurt all of them to have to now. The worst part was Logan knew his friends were right, but he hated admitting it. He put his mug down harder than he meant to and sighed in defeat, "Fine. But you do know you'll be with him most of the time, right Roman?" Lagan asked as he looked over to him "You have the most flexible job and the most flexible hours"

Roman nodded, "As long as I can put in my hours that's fine. But stopping Deceit is more important than anything else right now." The others in the room nodded quietly and the debate had ended but there were still other things to discuss.

"Well, what do you propose is our next course of action than?" Logan asked as Roman and Patton made themselves a bowl of cereal.

"Virgil!" Patton suddenly said as he caught sight of him walking down the hall, "How are you feeling Kiddo?"

"Salutations Virgil"

"Good morning," Roman smiled slightly, he was glad the conversation was over.

Virgil stood at by the hallway, somewhat surprised by the morning greetings, neither Deceit or Remus gave them very often "I'm okay I guess. How are you?"

"We're fine. Would you like some cereal?" Patton asked, Virgil, nodded and muttered his thanks as he slowly approached the island where the others stood.

"Have you heard anything back from Deceit or Remus?" Roman asked.

Virgil shook his head, "No, they like to sleep in late on weekends though." There was a silence in the room, followed by Roman, Patton, and Logan having a mouthed conversation that Virgil understood nothing about. The argument was over when Patton took a very large bite of cereal and Logan busied himself with his tie. Roman stared at his friends, almost in shock as they left him to say whatever it was that needed to be said

Roman cleared his throat, "Virgil, we were talking earlier and we were wondering..." Roman paused and Virgil waited for him to continue "Well since you only had so many things on you when you arrived..." Roman trailed off again and Logan sighed before finishing.
