TW: Anxiety Attack.

"He's mad at me isn't he?" Virgil asked Remus as they appeared between two buildings. The tsunami he had created now gone and every shadow was back in its place.

Remus didn't hesitate to answer, "Yeah, he is. But it'll pass. He'll go easy on you, I know it. Dee's always had a soft spot for you, cared for you from the moment we saw you." Remus said, Virgil only nodded, "Hey it's those stupid heroes again, didn't Dee want us to cause them some trouble? Why don't you make their shadows attack them or something?" Remus suggested with a sinister smile, "They deserve it, they took your mask."

Virgil looked down the street, sure enough, the three heroes from the other day were standing in the center of the street, right where Virgil's replica of King Kong had snatched Remus out of the air. Ambrosia had linked arms with Professor T while The Royal Element stood a few feet in front of them, staring up at the building where Deceit was. He was talking but Virgil couldn't hear him, and Remus was too far from them to read their minds. "Camon Virgil. Maybe if we attack them then Dee won't be mad at you anymore. He hates them, you know that."

"I can't make their shadows move from here," Virgil told Remus

"Then go out there. Dee's almost done, nows the only chance you got"

"But Deceit told me to stay with you. He said to-"

Remus shook his head, the green mask he wore slipping just slightly as he did. "Virgil, are you going to be like this for the rest of your life?" he asked him, Virgil didn't say anything and Remus sighed. "Fine then, we'll both go. You're such a wimp sometimes" Remus said, before pulling Virgil closer to the heroes.

It was dark when the shadow passed above them. But Roman didn't want to risk lighting a fire in case he lost his concentration. He heard one of his friends move towards the other, their shoes sliding across the pavement. It was silent besides that. Then the light returned. Roman dropped his force-field and looked for Deceit, The Duke, and Shadow Master. "There he is," Roman said before he lifted chunks of rocks off the ground and tried to throw it at Deceit, but he kept missing. "Ugh! We need a plan! This isn't working!" Roman yelled to the others

"Royal Element," Logan began, he and Patton had been whispering to each other since he put the field down "Maybe it would be wise if we go home, we can take a moment to rest and collect ourselves."

"The citizens are safe, the giant monkey is gone, and the dinosaur isn't causing as much destruction as he was a few minutes ago. We're tired, and it looks like they are too. Let's go home," Patton said. Roman looked back at them, wanting to argue but knowing they were right.

"If it really bothers you that we're leaving the scene like this then we can return later in the evening during our patrol," Logan added, gently putting a hand on Romans' shoulder. Roman sighed then nodded. Deceit always won, it wasn't fair. Not to them, not to the civilians, not to anybody.

"Heya there fella's!" An annoyingly familiar voice said from behind them. Immediately Roman abandoned the deal he had just made and threw a rock toward the villains only for a dark figure to shoot up and block it from hurting them. The Duke and Shadow Master stood in front of them and as Shadow Master's shadow thing sunk back down the heroes prepared for another fight. Logan stuck out his hand and suddenly The Duke went flying backward, he teleported before he could hit the floor. Leaving Shadow Master alone with the heroes.

Virgil watched as Remus flew back and suddenly disappeared from view. He opened his mouth and closed it over and over as he tried to form words. Remus said that he would stay here. Couldn't he have at least grabbed Virgil before he had gone sailing backward? Or done something to help him? Even just give him an idea of what to do? Now he was alone with no one except the heroes in front of him.
