TW: Tree Falling
Day Thirty-Seven| Saturday | April 15th
Virgil's breath shook slightly as he closed his eyes and tilted his head back, feeling the cool drops of water drip onto his face and down his back. The smell of rain and wet grass hung around them, making the air smell fresh and new. He couldn't help but smile slightly, for a moment, nothing else existed except for him and the rain.
"Virgil, are you alright?" Roman asked, he seemed a touch bit concerned but there was also a bit of amusement in his eye.
"Yeah, I just haven't done this in a while," Virgil replied, still smiling as he placed his hands in his pockets. Roman watched Virgil carefully, the ex-villain looked more relaxed out here. He was smiling a gentle smile. Roman couldn't help but notice how Virgil looked younger out here- no, not younger. He looked lighter. He wasn't tensed or slouching, he didn't look as though he was holding up the weight of the world. He wasn't in the same world as Roman was, or at least not the same time. Virgil glanced at Roman, catching him staring, "Is something wrong?"
Roman shook his head and smiled slightly, "Your make up is smearing. You look kinda funny." Roman told him.
"What?" Virgil lifted a hand to his face pulling it away to find make-up-stained fingers. Well, he supposed it could be worse, it could be blood.
The sound of a camera caught his attention and he looked up to see Roman grinning at his phone, "Did you just take my picture?" Virgil asked, taking a small step forward.
Roman nodded, and showed him the photo, "Yup. Do you like it?"
"No. Roman delete it. What if someone sees? Or-"
"Don't worry, I'm not going to post it anywhere. I'm not an idiot," Roman said, putting his phone away, "I promise, nobody else is going to see it, except maybe Patton and Logan" Virgil sighed but nodded to show that was fine. "A bunch of the pictures on that Instagram account are of you looking away from the camera," Roman began walking down the sidewalk and motioned for Virgil to follow.
Virgil shrugged, "My friends said it was the only way they could get a picture of me smiling."
"They seem like nice people, why don't you talk to them anymore?" Roman asked.
"I already told you, they got on with their lives. Became adults, went to college, got jobs. I didn't, I couldn't."
"I don't think that's it." Roman told him, "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. But if there's more to it that's fine" Virgil didn't answer. He looked at the ground, his jaw set in a way that Roman and the others had quickly learned meant Virgil didn't want to answer or talk about a certain topic. "Was it because of Deceit?"
Virgil nodded, "Partly."
"And the other part?" Roman asked
"I'm an idiot who does dumb shit. Pretty simple" Virgil said he kicked lightly at a rock.
Roman nodded, "Me too," he mumbled. They were quiet again. The sounds of rain vibrated through the empty streets. It was coming down hard, both of them were already drenched in water from head to toe, "We should have thrown some clothes in the dryer before we left huh?" Roman said, smiling as he pulled his coat around him tighter.
Virgil looked up, "We can go back if you want. I don't mind watching it from the window."
Roman shook his head, "No it's fine." Roman said, stopping in front of Virgi and grinning slightly, "So, are you going to say hi to your parents?"

Patton and Logan sat across from each other at a table in the corner of the small cafe. Patton's jacket hung on an empty chair, the boy's attempts at getting it to dry. Logan had spent most of the time outside under his umbrella and was dry enough to keep his jacket on. Patton was drinking hot chocolate and Logan was drinking coffee. "Do you think Virgil heard us yelling?" Patton asked
