TW: Deceit, Mentions of Paranoia, Attempts at manipulation, Anxiety, Violence, Blood
Extra Long Chapter
Day Ninety-Four | Sunday | June 12th
"Oh my gosh, I'm so excited!" Patton said as he pulled Virgil down the hall of theater chairs, Logan following at a much calmer pace. It was the last night that Roman was preforming his play and the three of them had come to support him. Virgil looked around the large building, it was cleaner than it had been the last time Virgil was here, and the curtains were pulled closed tightly but other than that there was no visual evidence that anything had changed since he was last here, at least not that he could see right now. Yet the atmosphere felt different somehow, fuller, if that made sense.
Logan arrived next to Patton and Virgil as they stood in the aisle, "I have notified Roman of our arrival, he is on his way now. He seemed quite adamant on speaking with you Virgil, are you aware of any plan Roman has?"
Virgil shook his head and put his hands in his pockets, his finger brushing over the small fidget toy that Roman had given him the other day. He said he didn't want Virgil to have an anxiety attack at his show since it would probably get a little crowded and loud during intermission and after the show. It had been nice of him, and Virgil was thankful for it because even if he felt fine now he knew that his anxiety could pick up at any second without warning, so Virgil had appreciated it.
They took their seats a few rows back so they would have a good view of the stage while still being close enough to hear without too much difficulty. Logan had just started talking about the history of the play and how Anastasia was a myth. Virgil, who had never seen the whole play preformed, was actually finding himself to be paying attention when Roman was suddenly running down the aisle, "Virgil! Great! Come with me!" Roman shouted, reaching over Patton and Logan and taking Virgil's hand as he pulled him out of his chair.
"What? Why? Is everything okay?" Virgil asked as he tried not to trip over Patton and Logan's feet.
"No! The make-up-artist went into labor and we need a new one so congratulations it's you" Roman announced quickly.
"Is the lady in labor okay?" Patton asked.
"What? Yeah, I guess" Roman said with a shrug, "I don't know she was having a baby. That doesn't matter, I'm taking Virgil I'll bring him back! Bye!" Roman said before dragging Virgil through the theater and backstage.
"Roman! I haven't done stage make-up in four years." Virgil said as he barely avoided smashing into two crew members setting the first scene, "And slow down, I'm not as fast as you"
Roman sighed but did slow his pace so Virgil wasn't tripping over himself to keep up, "you do your make up every day. Besides, you draw a lot."
"Neither of those are the same thing as stage make up and-"
"There you are!" Norah shouted, grabbing the hand that Roman wasn't holding and helped drag Virgil.
"Well this makes more sense" Virgil muttered as Norah sat him down in front of the girl playing Young Anastasia and handed him a bucket of make-up. "There is no escaping this is there?" he asked as both Norah and Roman shook their heads and the little girl giggled. Virgil sighed before picking up the make-up brushes and beginning to carefully work on the girl's face.
Luckily the previous make-up artist had been able to get most of the actors done before going into labor so Virgil really only had to do a few small things for actors who didn't have very big roles. The dressing room was large and filled with actors and crew workers alike, many of the crew workers were running around wildly lest they get scolded by Norah or the director for not finding something useful to do. Most of the actors were rehearsing lines or songs or dances and honestly, it was complete chaos and Virgil briefly wondered how he actually used to enjoy this. Virgil finished the last actor, a little boy playing Anastasia dead younger brother before closing the makeup kits and handing them to a random crew member, "I don't know what to do with these, and I doubt you do either but now it's your problem" he said to them before walking away.
