Day Seven | Thursday | March 17th
"What's your favorite animal?" Patton asked as he moved the white plastic knight across the checkered plastic board.
"Bats," Virgil answered as he moved the black bishop diagonally six spaces and taking one of the white rooks off the board.
"How does that not surprise me?" Roman asked as he came into the living room struggling to tie his tie. "Why isn't this- Logan!" Roman yelled. Logan sighed as he took his eyes off the chessboard, lifting his right hand and using his powers to tie the tie for Roman. "Thanks,"
"Of course Roman," Logan said before returning his attention to the chess game. Patton smiled as he moved one of his pawns forward and capturing Virgil's knight.
"Check," Virgil slid his rook across the board and in front of Patton's king "And you know Roman, bats aren't all bloodthirsty animals like fiction makes them out to be. Without bats, we wouldn't have bananas or avocados or a bunch of other fruits"
Patton stared at the board trying with a frown as he tried to figure out how to win the game. Logan looked at Patton, smiling as he took Patton's knight and replaced it with Virgil's king. "That's checkmate. Patton wins." Logan said as Patton smiled brightly "Though Virgil is correct Roman. Bats are a very important part of the agricultural community. And are a big contributor to reducing the insect population"
"Thanks for the help, Lo. Also, can we adopt a bat? I think we have a spider problem in the bathroom" Patton said as he helped Virgil set the board up again
"No. While it is legal to own a bat in Florida, many types of bats are endangered and making sure they stay healthy would be very hard for us to do," Logan said, Patton frowned slightly, "Roman, are you ready to go yet? You're going to be late for your interview"
Roman looked down at his tie again before he nodded, "Yeah, I feel good about this one. After all sixty-third time is the charm" he smiled nervously as he and Logan made their way towards the door.
"From my experience, and I have plenty of experience, being anxious about something you really want is normal," Virgil said "But if you let it get in your way than you have a bigger chance at messing up. If you tell yourself that you did the best you could, you'll have a better chance at landing the interview."
"Oh, thank's Virgil, that's actually kind of helpful" Roman said, taking his jacket off the hook.
"You're gonna do great Kiddo! And if they don't hire you that's okay too, it's their loss." Patton said, getting up and giving Roman a hug. He turned to Logan and gave him a hug too, "And you have a fun day. Don't stress out like you did a few days ago."
"I don't see how selling insurance is fun, but I will try my best," Logan said, patting Patton on the back as he hugged him. He was released a moment later and Roman and Logan walked out the door. Patton returned to his spot on the ground across from Virgil. They played two more games of chess including the one Logan helped Patton win, Patton won two and Virgil won one.

Roman had dropped Logan off at his office before he drove to the large skyscraper where his interview would take place. He had been searching for a new job for nearly five months after he lost his previous one just before Thanksgiving. At first, he took it as a sign, a sign that he was meant for better things and that he should try and look for a job that he would enjoy more, but after the second month with no luck and the money in his bank account running out he started widening his searches.
Roman had applied for any and every job that he was eligible for and paid more than what he was currently doing. Which was, as Logan put it, delivering food for people to lazy to get it themselves, or in other words, Ubereats. He had only been slightly exaggerating when he said this was his sixty-third interview. Roman had had at least two interviews a week, oftentimes more, for the last twelve weeks. Whether that was online or in-person hadn't mattered, because unless he got this job, he'd still be stuck spending most of the day in his car.
