Day Fifty-One | Saturday | April 29th

"Hey, Patton. I missed you" Harrison said

Patton smiled slightly, "Hi Harry," Patton said as he came closer to his siblings, "bad hair day?" he asked gently, silently admitting to himself that it was one of his less funny jokes

Harrison threw his head back against the pillows as he smiled, "You and those puns man" Patton took a seat at the foot of the hospital bed. Melanie was also sitting in the bed, her legs crossed in front of her as she sat slightly closer to Harrison's upper body than Patton had. "So, Melanie tells me you have a crush on one of your roommates. That true?"

Patton could feel his cheeks turn red, "First of all no, Logan's just a friend. Second of all, you're a traitor" he said to his sister who began laughing at him

"Oh, you got it bad man" Harrison teased, "Alright, spill it." Patton waited hesitantly, "Patton come on, how is this any different than me or Mel talking about our crushes? Is he cute? Does he make you nervous? What does he smell like? Tell us"

Melanie nodded and smiled, and added in her own questions too. Patton's smile grew a little. He had never talked about a real crush with his siblings, though they had come to him several times. "Guys, I don't like him like that. But yeah, I guess he's cute" he admitted as the red in his face grew, "He doesn't make me nervous though, I'm really comfortable around him, he makes me laugh. He's really smart too, and whenever he talks about something that he's really interested his eyes change colors sort of. He talks about stuff I don't understand, but he doesn't care if I ask questions, it actually makes him super happy and he helps me bake cookies sometimes and... I don't know, he's Logan. He's my friend."

Melanie and Harrison smiled at their brother, they had never seen him speak like he spoke now. The soft smile pulling at his lips as his eyes looked away from them and gleamed with joy. "Fine," Melanie said, "But he can be your crush too, just so you know"

Patton shook his head as he lifted his eyes back towards his siblings, "You guys are ridiculous" The two in front of him laughed, for a moment all three of them forgot that they were in a hospital room. But only for a moment, as the laughter came to a slow stop they were quickly reminded of the truth. It wasn't hard to be reminded, when Harrison opened his eyes again, and they landed on the surroundings they changed It was obvious to both his younger siblings that he hated being here. "It's back, isn't it," Patton asked after a long silence

Harrison, the oldest and strongest of the Hart siblings, nodded slowly as a tear formed in his eye. He didn't look at his siblings when he spoke, "Yeah, it's back."

Melanie felt herself go weak. Her body began to shake as a sob escaped her before she could stop herself she threw herself against her oldest brother "No" was all she said

"Yes," Harrison replied as he held his sister close.

Patton stared at the ground. He knew he should have expected this. Why else would Harrison be in the hospital like this? why else would he be acting like this?  Why else would he look like this? He sighed sadly as he moved on the bed so he was lying next to his brother and sister. How all three of them managed to fit on the bed that was a mystery to them, but they didn't care.

It was back.

'It' was a word that had quickly become the scariest one in their vocabulary. 'It' was a horrifying presence that had haunted each of the siblings differently for years. 'It' was every parent's nightmare. 'It' was one of the reasons Patton hadn't wanted to come. 'It' was what Harrison had been diagnosed with years ago, and had been what everybody thought was gone. 'It' was what everyone hoped was gone.
