Extra Long Chapter
Day One-Hundred and Twenty-Nine | Saturday | July 16th
So. Much. Screaming.
You could hear it from the apartment as Virgil's leg bounced up and down. He played with the fidget toy in his hand and listened to Roman who was holding his phone to his ear and spoke to Logan, "Alright, just calm down" Roman said into the phone, "I'm going, I promise I'll be there soon" Roman said before hanging up and sighing he turned to Virgil, gently taking his hands as he spoke, "Virgil, Logan, and Pat need help. This is a really big attack and they can't handle it on their own so I need to go help"
"That's fine. I get it."
"You gonna be okay?"
"I'll be fine. Go, help people, Roman." Virgil told him.
Roman nodded before hurrying to get into his costume and then leaving the apartment, leaving Virgil alone to go help Patton and Logan defeat the cities latest threat. Virgil took a deep breath as he slid off the seat of the couch and curled into a ball. Virgil clicked the fidget toy in his hands, forcing himself to focus on the sound and the warm smooth plastic. He forced himself to take deep breaths and keep his hands unclenched. He forced himself to try and stay calm and listen to every single thing Logan, Patton, and Roman had told him during past anxiety attacks.
An hour passed, by this time the threat was usually neutralized and the heroes would be taking care of things with first responders, basically helping with clean up and such. Yet this time, Virgil could still hear them fighting, he could hear another building being destroyed, and people continuing to scream, sirens continued to ring and chaos continued to slither through the city like a snake in a field of grass.
Virgil jumped at the sound of loud booms that shook the ground slightly, turning to face the window in the kitchen and jumping to his feet at the sight of a very large man standing outside the window. "Shit, he's who they're fighting," Virgil said, he was very familiar with the giant outside the window. He didn't wait a moment later before rushing to the glass, pressing himself against as he stared at the scene in front of him. The man was making his way through the city, obviously looking for something as Roman, Patton, and Logan did their best to fight him.
Virgil watched as the man grabbed at Logan, who had been using his powers to throw things at the giant man, and threw the hero to the side. "Logan!" Virgil yelled as he watched Patton try and run towards his friend before Roman grabbed his arm and ran, leading the large giant away. "Shit," Virgil said, grabbing at his head, "Shit this is bad. This is really really bad. I-I-" he stopped before sprinting towards the door and running out of the apartment. He froze a little as he got outside, would they be mad if he did this? It didn't matter if he didn't help they could die!
He started down the street towards where the man had thrown Logan, first he needed to make sure he was okay. "Logan!" Virgil yelled when he found the man lying in an alley between two buildings. His face was pale, his head was bleeding from where he must have hit it during the fall, his mask was gone and his glasses were broken. "Logan, are you alright?" Virgil said as he shook the other by his shoulder, pulling his hoodie off and pressing it to Logan's head.
"Virgil?" Logan said to him, "You're not supposed to be out here"
"I-I saw him throw you from the window and Sleep isn't exactly the easiest to fight and-"
"You know him?" Logan asked, shooting upward before falling back down, his face was turning a sickly green as he fell back to the round,
"Logan? Don't pass out!" Virgil yelled, shaking him again. "Okay um... I'm gonna find Patton, and I'll send him over here but I can't leave Roman alone with Sleep because he targets people when they're alone or distracted"
