"I'm sorry Namjoon..."

The morning had arrived and Jungkook stared out in front of him with a resentful expression. He hadn't slept, he definetly hadn't eaten, and the coffee he'd gotten from Namjoon stood cold and lonely on a small table next to him.

He heard Jin and Namjoon whispering to each other down the hallway, the men thinking he couldn't hear them. But he could hear them. Every word.

"You're breaking up with me? Now!?" Namjoon asked, sounding conflicted with emotions. He seemed to want to yell, but his conscious knew Jin was fragile at the moment.

"I... I should've never started this..." Jin replied softly. "I neglected Jimin... I shoved all his burdens to Jungkook because he was so eager to help... it was wrong of me to do that. The only one that has to put Jimin before themself is me."

Jungkook hung his head low. You failed was all his mind kept saying. You failure.

"Jin stop that. It's not healthy for anyone to put someone else before them. I know he's your brother but-"

"Don't you get it Namjoon?! I am partly responsible for all of this. Whatever happened to my little brother... it happened while I didn't see. While I was playing with my friends and going to school, feeling ashamed of my weird brother that all my friends laughed at! I don't deserve to put myself first..."

Jungkook felt like a child who's parents were arguing. He wanted to disappear into the ground.

"Jin... I know you must feel guilty, but do you honestly think Jimin would want-"

"I don't care what he wants! I'm here to give him what he needs. I've been absent like when he was younger... he must've felt so trapped... normally he talks to me when he feels stuck but I've been occupied. Namjoon... this isn't your fault... please don't take it personally."

"So you're just sending me away now..." Namjoon said, sounding betrayed and hurt and rightfully so.

"Joonie..." Jin whispered softly. "I'm sorr-"

"Yeah okay."

The man walked out of the hallway, and Jungkook tried to pretend he hadn't heard the entire conversation as his friend neared him.

"I'm gonna go wait in the cafetaria okay Kook? Will you be alright?" The man said, placing his hand on the student's shoulder as he gave a comforting smile with his kind dimples.

Jungkook nodded almost unnoticably, so Namjoon tapped his shoulder once again while giving it a squeeze.

"Call when you need me," he said, his hand lingering for just moment, before he strolled away with his head hanging low and defeat weighing heavy on his back.

Not long after, Jin emerged from the hallway as well and dragged himself back to his seat next to Jungkook. He looked dreadful. His eyes puffy and red, and hair messy and sticking in every direction.

He dropped himself on the chair and after a silence he just started crying, shielding his face as his shoulders shook.

Jungkook looked at the man from the corner of his eyes and reached out hesitantly, making him lean his head on the student's shoulder to sooth him.

And Jungkook realised, or remembered, since he already should've known, that he'd truly made the most victimized people of this world his family.

His eyes darted around the room, resting on one unknown object before springing to the next. A vase, a lamp, a window, white walls.
