"Kook? Can we talk for a moment?"
Jungkook walked into the livingroom, already wearing his shoes and throwing his backpack over his shoulder. He gave Taehyung a curious look, wondering what his friend wanted to say before he left for school.
"Sure, what up?"
Taehyung pursed his lips, sitting down at the dinnertable and signing his friend to do the same.
Jungkook frowned. He didn't have a lot of time, but he felt like whatever Taehyung wanted to say was serious, so he joined his friend at the table.
"You're acting a little weird," he chuckled, starting to think he needed to prepare himself for something serious.
Taehyung took a deep breath, fidgeting with his fingers and keeping his eyes far away from Jungkook's.
"Kook... I'm not sure how to tell you this..." he started, his voice lower than usual.
The atmosphere stiffened.
Jungkook tensed up and gulped. His friend's strange behaviour had come out of nowhere. "Tae?..."
"I'm moving in with Lois."
Jungkook's lips parted and his eyes fluttered. "Oh..."
"I didn't want to tell you before your exam but I couldn't lie to you... we decided it last night and I feel like shit because there's already so much stuff going on in your life and-"
"Tae... it's fine," Jungkook said, smiling at his friend as he dismissivly shook his hand.
Taehyung lowered his head as if he felt ashamed of his choice. "But... but what are you gonna do? Where are you gonna go?"
Jungkook sighed so deeply his entire body moved. "I'll find a place... maybe I'll rent an RV," he laughed.
But Taehyung only looked concerned. "Kook... you don't have to act as if you're okay with it... I'd understand if you want to yell at me or something..."
Jungkook stood up from his chair, shoving his hands in the pocket of his black hoodie.
"I'm alright Tae, don't worry about me. We both knew you'd move out earlier because you're older," he said, scrunching his nose as his lips edged up, giving off the most content look he could muster. "Now I've got an exam to make."
The student walked off, heading towards the frontdoor and ignoring Taehyung's calls for the man to wait.
Jungkook needed air. Fresh air. And a break.
~~~
The student waited at the busstop, buried in his hoodie and checking his phone every so often as tears streamed down his face.
He wasn't crying. The tears just came. He wasn't sad or angry and he didn't feel wronged or betrayed.
He was just little overwhelmed. It was all just a little too much.
Jungkook tried not to hope for a message from his boyfriend, he really tried to keep his expectations down. But he needed it. He needed some kind of confirmation that Jim was still there for him.
Contact with any of the filters had been meagre since last week. And even Jim started texting Jungkook less than usual.
The student tried to act unbothered by it, but that was only because he didn't know what else to do.
He wondered for how much longer he was going to have to pretend to be happy for everyone else. He wondered if that eventually would break his heart as well.
