"Last time we spoke you just started dating someone right? Did that work out son?" Jungkook's mother asked curiously.

Jungkook coamed through his hair and raised his eyebrows with a sigh. "Yeah... I guess..."

"You guess?" Jungkook's father asked sharply. "Son don't date anyone who doesn't make you feel absolutely sure you want to be with them eh! Otherwise you'll waste years on someone you want no future with."

Jungkook shook his head immediatly. "No that's not it! I know I want to be with him but... our relationship is... complicated..."

"I've never heard of a succesful relationship that wasn't complicated at at times," Jungkook's mother said sternly. "How is that a reason for you to have doubts?"

Jungkook shrugged and drooped his shoulders.

He really wanted to tell his parents about the fact that Jimin had DID. But he wanted them to meet Jimin before they could let prejudice enter their minds. His parents were wonderful people, but Jungkook still feared they would react the way Namjoon had done upon first hearing who Jungkook was dating. The student had made that mistake already, he was sure his parents would understand later on.

"He thinks I'm not taking good care of myself..." Jungkook said quietly, closing his eyes as he prepared himself for the scolding he was about to receive. "So he wanted us to be on a break for a while..."

Jungkook heard his mother scoff.

"Are you not taking good care of yourself?" She asked at a warning tone.

Jungkook pouted his lips and felt shameful as if his parents were standing right in front of him.

"I... could be better..."

Sounds of disbelief defeaned Jungkook's right ear for a moment.

"Ya! Didn't we raise you to be a healthy young man huh? Now you go waste all our years of hard work? I carried you in my stomache for 9 months you brat!"

Jungkook's father pitched in right away. "You know how many diapers I've had to clean for you!? You pooped a lot as a baby you know!"

Jungkook rubbed his browbone and scrunched his nose as he cringed. "I'm sorry, I just... this person I was- am with... I love him so much. I was fine if I could just put a smile on his face..."

Jungkook sighed deeply. "He's all I need... but people keep telling me that that's wrong."

There was a period of silence on the other side of the phone before Jungkook's mother spoke. "That does sound like love my boy... I bet it looks amazing on you."

"Son when I met your mother I was head over heels as well," Jungkook's father soothed. "I wanted to do anything to make her happy. It's normal for you to want that. What is love if it doesn't mean you'd risk everything for that person? What is love if the one you might want to spend your life with isn't the center point of your world?"

Jungkook pressed his lips firmly together. He couldn't cry on the phone with his parents.

"Love is hard, isn't it my boy?"

Tears welled up in Jungkook's eyes without him being able to hold them back anymore. They had no idea. They really didn't. All the bad moments. All the sleepless nights.

When Jungkook thought of them now he could see there were so many. But they didn't matter, because the good moments, the moments that made life feel like the most wonderful gift, made them all worth it. It made Jungkook smile through his tears in a bittersweet way as he remembered them.
