Mikey opened his locker and got his history book out of it, stuffing it into his bag gently. He looked back up and across the hall towards Gerards locker, not seeing him anywhere near it. Licking at his lips, he took his math book out of his bag and put it in his locker, closing and locking it and then zipping his bag up. He threw it over his shoulder and made his way towards his history class, mostly looking down at his feet while he walked.

This was most likely the eighth time Gerard wasn't at school in two weeks. But he wasn't sick. He was skipping class.

That might sound like nothing too unusual, especially for a high school student, but this was Gerard. He never skipped classes. Never. He never had and he never wanted to. Frank skipped classes from time to time and Mikey had skipped classes as well, always with a very valid reason of course, like skipping class because he wasn't prepared enough for an exam or stuff like that. He rather didn't show up once instead of risking his whole grade. Gerard though? He still wouldn't skip. He would show up and fail that exam with his head raised high, almost being proud of himself at failing a class, because he was honestly failing it.

Mikey knew that Gerard had never particularly liked school. He didn't hate it, but he hated the concept of it. Not the concept of learning, but this whole "You have to learn and you have to learn what we want you to learn, not what you're actually interested in" thing that he didn't like. Still, he showed up to every class, except he was really sick of course or when he just couldn't, like on that Friday three weeks ago, the day after he had been jumped by these four guys.

Those were all legitimate reasons to stay home, but Gerard wouldn't even really leave his room anymore. Mikey knocked on his door every morning, just like always, to tell him that either Frank or Ray was there to pick them up for school. Gerard would only groan then and say that he wasn't going to school today. When it was his turn to drive however, he would get up like always, drive Mikey and the others to school, go to his first class of that day or so and then he would actually drive home again. He just skipped the entire day otherwise and without an excuse. Mikey knew that something was up. Gerard was not even showing up for art class.

"Hey Mikey!", Pete greeted him in front of their history class, smiling up at him with a big grin, ripping him out of his thoughts.

"Hey Pete", Mikey smiled back softly, standing next to his friend and waiting for their teacher outside of the room, just like the other students.

"Did you do the homework? I swear, I tried everything to do number three but I couldn't find out what the answer is", he sighed, leaning his head back against the wall, his black fringe covering his eyes a little.

"I thought we didn't have to do number three", the taller looked at him confused with furrowed brows.

"We didn't?".

"I think... I didn't do it", Mikey shrugged and adjusted his bag a little, watching as Pete covered his eyes in agony with his hands.

"You're telling me, that I spend over an hour looking for a stupid answer, for nothing?", he groaned, removing his hands and looking up at Mikey again, who just shrugged and nodded. "Wow, great", he scoffed and picked his bag back up from the ground as Mrs. Rogers came down the stairs and walked towards her classroom. Mikey smiled a small half smile at Pete and turned around to look at his teacher, who was already fiddling around with her keys before she had even reached the classroom.

"Good morning!", she greeted them cheerfully and unlocked the door, pushing it open and letting the students enter the room. Most of the students actually liked her. She was this middle aged teacher that wasn't afraid of using technology to teach them. Okay, she wasn't the best at using it, but she tried. A few students always volunteered to help her with something anyways. Anyways, it was a nice change to work with a lot of pictures and some movie scenes as well, just because it was easier to understand difficult topics that way.
