"You know, maybe if you would stop looking at your stupid phone all the time you might have friends and wouldn't sit here with us". Gerard looked up from his phone after his mom had finished talking.

"Do you mean me or Mikey?", he asked, looking at his younger brother sat opposite of him, completely engulfed into his phone and typing away furiously.

"I mean you, Gerard. Mikey has friends", his mother scoffed and turned her attention back to the TV, continuing to watch the crime show Gerard couldn't remember the name of. Ouch. The older brother just rolled his eyes slightly and got up, putting his phone into his pocket as he did so.

"I'm going back to my room", he mumbled, not bothering to wait for a reply as he walked into the hallway and towards the basement stairs. Yes, his room was in the basement, Gerard Way just was that emo. Okay, actually not. It was more a space thing than an emo thing, but no one needs to know that.

The basement was kinda cold, the air was kinda damp and sticky. Probably because of the already humid July air. Hell, he couldn't wait for Autumn to finally show up, bringing cold wind and dieing leaves and Halloween.

Gerard closed the door behind him and made his way over to his bed, pulling his phone out again and opening his chats with a little frown.

Contacts:
Mikey
Frank
Ray
Mom

That was it. His brother, his best friend, Mikey's best friend and his mom. He sighed and laid down on his bed. Gerard didn't want to admit it, but his mom was right. He didn't have any other friends besides Frank. That wasn't that much of a bad thing though. Frank was great. Hell, he knew Frank since ages and they never got bored of each other. But, maybe a small change in his friends would be nice. After all, Frank didn't really have much time for him at the moment. He had started a band with a few of his friends, because Frank wasn't like Gerard. Frank had friends. Frank had a life.

Gerard ran a hand through his hair and looked at the alarm clock on his bed. It wasn't late yet, only 8pm. He looked at his fingers and could basically see all the grease from his hair sticking against them. Gerard made a gagging noise and decided that a shower would probably be good again. But first he had to do something kinda, pathetic. At least he thought it was. He opened google and typed:

How do I make friends?

Immediately a lot of links started to pop up, Gerard found himself a little overwhelmed with it, before he felt like slapping himself. One of the first things to pop up was simply "social media". He could have thought of that. Idiot. Gerard had Instagram, but he only posted some of his art there sometimes and looked at other art. He didn't make friends with it.

Texting people he didn't know at all was awkward for him. Texting people first even more. He knew that if he wanted more friends, he had to be more active. He wanted friends, he had to make the first step. But who should he even text? He didn't know these people. Most of them had a weird username that couldn't be their real name. Gerard pulled at his hair again. Fuck, why was interaction so complicated? He opened the Appstore and decided to just look at different apps that looked like chat rooms. Problem was just that there were so many of them. Again, he found himself overwhelmed. He had to text Frank.

Gerard: Hey what are you up to? xo G

Yeah, okay, that was good. He was technically texting him first. He made the first step. But this was Frank. Frank wasn't a stranger to him. Frank was different.

Gerard decided to calm down a little. It had been a while since his anxiety had gotten this bad and Frank always managed to calm him down. Gerard just really hoped he would respond soon. Just talking a little to him would already calm Gerard down by a lot. But the older knew that Frank was probably with his band right now, shredding away on his guitar like there was no tomorrow.
