Chapter 4

*******AMY'S POV*******

"Happy Birthday Carmen!" we all shouted as she walked down the stairs in her pajamas. She looked shocked then smiled. She ran up to Drew and me and hugged us.

"Thank you so much!" she squealed and went to hug everyone else. When she got to Mark, she blushed; she must have been embarrassed to be in her pajamas.

They talked for a while before she grabbed his hand and started swinging it. I felt Drew tense and tighten his grip around my waist.

"Drew, its ok, there just friends, I talked to Carmen she promised not to do anything" I said looking up at him

He sighed heavily. "Fine" he grumbled and walked outside where everyone was

Drew's mom walked up to me. "So, Amy, how's the baby coming?"

"Good" I said rubbing my tummy. "He's a little kicker though" I said laughing

"Oh, well he must be excited to meet his family" she said laughing

"Yeah"

"Well, I'll leave you to socialize" she said walking away

I walked over to the kitchen and over to the fridge. I felt someone tap me on the shoulder and I turned around. Mark was standing there with a nervous look on his face.

"Hey Mark, what can I do for you" I said turning around and smiling

"Well...umm I feel weird asking this but..."

"Mark, it's ok, you don't need to feel weird asking me anything, it's ok. Do you want something to drink?" I asked turning back to the fridge

"Um...no thank you Mrs. Parker, I wanted to ask you about your daughter"

I turned around when I heard that, he was looking down ashamed. "What about Carmen?" I asked raising my eyebrows

"Well, I don't mean to sound defensive about this but, Mrs. Parker, I like your daughter and she liked me. I want your permission to date her" he said concentrating on something on the floor

I was shocked, I didn't know Mark felt this way. "Well Mark, you seem to care about my daughter" I said closing the fridge

"Yeah, I do and I just... well, I..."

I hesitated before answering. I trusted them both and I was going to give him my permission. Drew wasn't going to be too thrilled about it though.

"Mark, I give you my permission" I said looking at him

His face brightened up. "Really?" he said looking overjoyed

I sighed. "Yes but if Mr. Parker tries to kill you, just tell him I said yes" I said grimacing at the thought of what Drew would do if he saw them together.

"Thank you Mrs. Parker!" he said shaking my hand and going back outside

I sighed; I knew this would happen eventually. I knew Carmen liked Mark and she was bound to have her first boyfriend sooner or later. I walked off to go find Drew

*******CARMEN'S POV*******

I walked downstairs and everyone shouted "Happy Birthday!" I was overjoyed; I looked over to see my mom and dad smiling at me. I ran up to them and hugged them.

"Thank you so much!" I squealed and went to thank everyone else. I walked up to Mark and hugged him.

"Happy Birthday" he whispered in my ear.
