CHAPTER 19

I love Jace so much it hurts. Every day we would say we loved each other and I always got butterflies in my stomach when he said it. I was so unbelievably happy I had found someone who loves me as much as I love him. Jace was my other half and I was so lucky I had him here with me. Sometimes I was glad they took me from my home and brought me here with Jace. If Mark had never given me up for who know what reason, I would never have met Jace. Jace was the sweetest, funniest, most loveable man alive, I was lucky to have him and I was lucky he loved me so much. I was currently sitting in his lap facing away from him; he was rubbing my back and I was rubbing my hands on his thighs. It was silent in the room but it wasn't an awkward silence, it was a comforting silence. Jace and I were just sitting there enjoying time together. The silence was broken when we both heard feet coming down the hall and people shouting. Jace moved me off his lap and I looked up at him. He put a finger to his lips and got up. He walked over to the wall by the door and pressed his ear to it.

"What is it?" I whispered

"It sounds like two men dragging someone else through the halls this way" he whispered back walking over to me and helping me up

"What do you think it could be?" I asked grabbing onto his arm

"I don't know" he said and wrapped his arm around my waist

"Jace, I'm scared" I whispered putting my head into his shoulder

"It's ok, I won't let anything happen to you" he said kissing my head. "Carmen, go stand in the far corner, I'm going to go listen again" he whispered

I nodded and walked over to the corner where all of our stuff was. I slipped on my cardigan over my tank top and sunk down in the corner. Jace was leaned against the wall with his ear pressed to it, concentrating on the noise outside. The noise was getting louder and closer. I could hear shouting and dragging but I couldn't make out the words.

"Jace?"

"It's ok Carmen" he whispered and went back to concentrating on the noise

Suddenly, the door burst open. My eyes widened and Jace froze. There was a figure standing in the doorway with two bigger figures on either side of it. I couldn't make out who it was because I was in the far corner but I guess Jace could. He walked slowly to the door and froze in front of it. I saw him look up and down then freeze again. I got up and walked to where he was standing. I wrapped my arm around his and he put his arm around waist as if it was a reflex

"What is it...?" I stopped when I saw who was standing there.

"Mark?" I heard Jace say in a shocked tone

"Jason?" I heard Mark say, just as shocked

I looked up at Jace who had a shocked and angered look on his face

"Jace..." I started to say

"Don't Carmen" he said and pulled me closer to him. I wrapped my arms around his waist and Mark looked down

"What are you doing here?" asked Jace in a cold tone

"I..." Mark started to say but was cut off by one of the guys who was holding him

"We have orders from the boss to throw him in here" said a sort of high voice for a guy

I looked behind Mark and saw a tall man standing there with his arms crossed over his chest smirking. I recognized him as Jace's dad and Mark's step dad. I looked back at Mark who had a horrified and annoyed look on his face.

"Well have fun" the guy laughed and shoved Mark forward into the cell with us.

"Back up" Jace whispered in my ear
