Jungkook was right. After they had all spent time really thinking on it and calming themselves down from the tension which was rife between all three of them after the events of the last few days, they had come to that basic realization. then again, Jungkook was typically correct in his beliefs and advice in the first place. They should really stop questioning Jungkook's ideas sometimes, but with the tension of the last few days, it was unavoidable. It had been one thing right after another right after another right after another. First saving those stupid gang members, then having to convince the matron of the orphanage that they were not in fact out all night like they had been accused of (even if it was correct), then running into those gang members again as they murdered someone, and having to escape, and now they were living with those same gang members.
Jungkook, Jimin, and Taehyung could not say that they regretted saving them, after all a Seoul under the rule of the Chinese mafia was much worse than anything else yet, they were regretting running into them for a second time. It was that reason which ended up with the gang members managing to figure out who they were and what they were doing. Of that all three were certain. So it was not that they felt guilty for helping them, even if this was what the outcome led to. They could not really feel guilty for doing something that bettered the well being of Korea. Even if they had done it in a rather round a bout way that definitely would not be approved by the Korean government.
The biggest problem that they had at the moment was trying to sneak out of the place. They did not really want to tell the group of adults where they were going, because then they would undoubtedly tail them. Yet, they could not just idly walk out of the place either. Typically, Taehyung's powers would aid them with this, but it was a bit more complicated then that.
They did not know what powers that the others had. This left them at a rather distinct disadvantage because they were not certain whether or not Taehyung could be sensed by one of them. If that was the case they most certainly did not want to showcase Taehyung's power. For now, all they knew was that they had the fire element power. They did not really know much else, barring Jungkook having the air magic. Anything else they were in the dark on, and Jimin and Taehyung specifically wanted to keep it that way for as long as possible.
Which meant that they were going to have to do this the old fashioned way...acting. Taehyung was a master at that, of course, but they were also nervous because they did not really know what they should start with. Taehyung and Jungkook would be taking the lead on this, however, that was swiftly decided. The two were incredibly good actors, and while Jimin was also very good, he knew that when it came down to this, Jungkook and Taehyung would be best with the verbal language, which just left Jimin to make sure that his body language matched what Jungkook and Taehyung were saying.
"Are we ready?" Jungkook asked, his voice scarcely a whisper. Jimin and Taehyung nervously glanced at each other, and they both inhaled softly, trying to settle themselves and the turbulence which crashed through them at their slight nod. Jungkook reached out, hesitating slightly, before shaking his head and curling his palm around the door knob. He stopped there, heart racing, hesitating slightly, before turning the brass metal and pulling the door open.
The door opened slowly, as Jungkook pulled it open, allowing it to creak as it moved, and hit the wall lightly, before falling against it, leaving the door open wide into the hallway. It was sort of...that haunted feel a person gets. That feeling that something will undeniably go horribly wrong, but they just do not know what it was or why they were feeling that.
It was somewhat...unnerving. The silence in the hall. The lights were dim, casting this bluish tinge to everything from the sun which streamed in from the far off window at the end of the wall, hitting through the dark curtains and through the dark blue walls. Why anyone would want to paint walls dark blue was a mystery to Jimin. There were definitely other options. personally, Jungkook would have preferred black.
There were two other rooms on this hall, and Taehyung thought they would have probably been his and Jimin's had they not been insistent on sharing a room. Of course, they had been, and they got to share a room without much fuss, though Jimin and Jungkook believed that it was highly possible that the gang members had believed that something like that would happen so they had prepared for it. Which slightly unnerved Taehyung at the thought that their actions could have been anticipated.
All three of them warily peered out down the hall way. All that you could hear was silence. The faint tinkling of the adults somewhere on the first floor came distantly. Jungkook swallowed nervously. He did not really know what to do at the moment. He closed his eyes, hands shaking slightly at his sides as he slowly lifted his foot, and moved out into the hall, one step. They all tensed, eyes closed. When nothing happened, with once collective exhale of relief, they all moved into the hallway.
Breathing slightly heavy, they changed formation. Jungkook was now behind Taehyung and Jimin, as they carefully picked their way down the corridor. It was eerily quiet and dark, but they did not allow that to unnerve them, calmly trying to keep themselves from shaking, and failing but they get points for the attempt.
It was an entirely terrifying experience. Those few minutes were. Even if they seemingly were nothing, they were definitely more than nothing to the trio. It was something that set them off their typical path. Their bodies were trembling lightly, their breaths were heavy, their fingers cold as the terror gripped them.
Terror over what they would do if they were caught, of whether they were even allow to leave the room, and of what would happen if they by chance were not actually allowed to leave the room. It was much too late to really question that, of course, since they had already left and it would stupid and naive to believe that the gang would not figure out that they had left their room. While there were no CCTVs or bugs in their room, there were bound to be some in the hallway leading to their room.
"Come on," Jimin whispered softly, his voice shaking ever so slightly as he spoke. He swallowed down his fear and pushed forwards, walking down the staircase which led to the first floor, and to the adults which were on the first floor. They made their way slowly, footsteps light, trying to not bring too much attention to themselves.
The first person who noticed them was the scary looking small guy from before. His dark eyes gleamed as he jerked his gaze to them. They all froze, collectively holding their breath in fear, before the other just motioned for them to move with him.
"There is food on the table." He said simply, before moving away. Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook looked at each other confused. Had they been...waiting for them? Given how the table was set, and the other three were sitting already, it would seem like they had been. Jimin and Taehyung and Jungkook refused to feel guilty for making them wait. They should have told them that they were allowed out of the room. It would have certainly caused them all less anxiety. Annoyance shoved its way through Jungkook, and Jimin put a hand on the other's shoulder, while Taehyung wrapped his arms around his waist.
They stayed like that for a beat of a moment, calming themselves down.
"We did not know that we were allowed out..." Jungkook muttered, glancing up at the most comfortable looking person...the tall, soft looking male. Jin...he had said his name was the night before.
"I knew that we had been forgetting something." The man groaned. "Forgive us, please. We forgot to tell you that you could come and go as you please. Just remember." The other said, voice dipping, to show just how serious that he was with what he was about to say. "If you try to run off we will find you, and your freedoms will be vastly restricted." Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook all held their breath, not daring to believe it.
"Does this..." Taehyung paused, clearing his throat, arms tightening around Jungkook's waist for a split second. "Does this mean that we are allowed to leave the house as long as we come back?" Taehyung asked curiously.
"Just make sure you are back by nightfall," NamJoon, the one which they had assumed to be the leader, swiftly intervened. The three smiled at each other and quickly agreed to the terms. This was much easier than they had believed that it would be. Of course, this also meant that they would need to make sure that they were not being followed, of course, and avoid the CCTVs as usual, but it did take quite a bit of weight off their shoulders. They were quite glad for this information.
"Thank you," Jimin said softly, and the others smiled at them with a dismissive hand from the bright smile dude-Hobi.
"Now come on, food is getting cold."
