Rey manned the main gun as they defended Luke's squad of bombers; shooting down tie after tie. The main reactor exploded and then they felt it; Luke was dead. Their ship jumped into hyperspace and headed towards Yavin 4.
Everyone at the base was silent, their victory overshadowed by the death of a Jedi. The galaxy had lost one of its greatest warriors. Leia said a few words and mentioned her brothers many accomplishments. Ben walked to his room, the world around him a dull haze. His uncle was dead; one of the people who helped him face his inner demons was suddenly gone. He closed the door and tried to hold back the tears. Ben remembered what Luke had said, that if anything were to happen to him, he wanted Ben to continue to return the Jedi to what they were during the old republic. He had to be strong. He had to continue his family's legacy.
Ben felt Rey's presence before she knocked on the door.
"Come in." She closed the door behind her and sat next to him on his bed. They sat there in silence unsure of where to start. "Luke wanted me to continue to restore the old Jedi order."
"What does that mean for us?"
"I don't know. But I know I want this to work."
