Ben was shocked to see that Rey lived in the husk of an old AT-AT walker. She was still a child and yet she lived in what could be considered worse than poverty.
"What do you want to use to build your light saber?" Rey looked around the room before picking out a handful of rusty junk.
"Will this work?"
"I'm not sure. Don't you have better stuff in that basket over there?"
"No. I can't use that. I have to trade with it later today." Rey thought for a minute. "If I don't eat tomorrow, then I might be able to spare a few prices from that pile." Ben hid his shock.
"Yeh. That will work."For several hours Ben helped her build her light saber, helping her understand how to use a Khyber crystal and connect it to the saber. "be careful when you first turn it on, it may take a moment to stabilize." Rey ignited the saber, and the room was filled with green light.
"Wow."
"Yeh, I was astounded when I finished my light saber."
As they walked back to the ship they discussed how Rey would continue her training. When they came into the small town other scavengers began to tease her. Ben contemplated taking out his light saber and scaring them into shutting up, but no, that was not the Jedi way. This was the last straw, he had to get Rey off this planet. "Rey, how would you like to be my Padawan?" She gave him a questioning look. "It would involve going off planet, which I know you're not a fan off, but I'm hoping you might consider it any way."
"No. I can't. My mom and dad are coming back. I have to be here when they do."
"I understand, but please, I don't want to leave you here, but I have to go. Come with me." Ben paused. "I don't know if this will change your mind, but I might be able to help you find your parents using the force."
"Really? You think I could find them?" He nodded. "Ok. I'll be your Padawan." Suddenly, the Millennium Falcon landed in front of them. Over Ben's radio Han yelled.
"Get in the ship!" The cargo door opened and they ran inside.

Next chapter will be a short story on how Han got the Falcon back. I also chose to give Rey a green saber to to light both colors that she has in the series.
