The last week of term took the absolute piss to pass. Swear on everything that was dear to me, never once in my life time have I seen the clock tick down so dreadfully. Made my classes that much longer, the journey it took for me to get there and back. Hell, even taking a shower took longer than usual.

Then it ended suddenly.

Friday rolled around and it seemed as though there was nothing for me to do. Not for the weekend, anyway. Having a month off meant that I could put off my work for as long as my little heart desired, though if that was the case, I already knew that everything would get done the week before its due date.

But for now, like I said, there was nothing for me to do. Academically, anyway.

Nadine's bloody event was still on and she needed me there. She knew me too well to give me a massive role in the whole planning and running because even before she started to gather what she would do, she told me I won't have anything vital on my hands. Meaning, she'd buddy me up with someone on the day if I manage to make it on time.

You see, she's been off with me for a couple of weeks now. The last time her and I saw each other was the night I dropped Wesley off at home. Since then, we barely spoke or hung out which honestly broke my heart because I missed her. Of course, it was understandable because we both had so much to get done. At least, that's what I thought. Because when I texted her to see how she was doing and if she wanted to go to Wetherspoons with me for lunch and a few drinks, she straight up left me on read.

Now that was a dead giveaway that she was mad. Whether or not the feeling was aimed at me, was unclear at first but with my PhD in Nadine Miller, I was pretty damn sure she wasn't the biggest fan of mine.

From then on, I wasn't too sure what to do. Whenever we argued, I unfortunately was never the one to reach out first. Call me stubborn, proud, whatever you want. I just couldn't get past the pettiness and I could've dragged grudges out for months. The only problem this time around was that Nadine let me do just that.

She did not bother to text me back. Thought about a thing or two as to why she'd blank me like that. Of course, the incident with Harry two weeks ago came around. If he really did drop my name in the conversation, he must have made me sound like an absolute bitch because Nadine surely would have looked past my little slip up.

Saying all that, I felt bad. Which is why, even though uni absolutely killed me off, I gathered all the strength I had left and decided to go back and help her out at the event. Even if we wouldn't be able to talk, she'd at least be there and it will give me a bit of peace of mind regarding her well-being.

Though, once at the location of the event, all my worries faded into nothing. She was there, bossing people around to make sure everything is in place. Finding it hard to remember, my guess was that the event was due to start sometime soon because everything was already set up and pretty much finalised. Yet still, people running around and hurrying, either from excitement or the fear of getting shouted at by Nadine, one of them managed to almost zoom right into me with a box full of shit.
