As requested by Griffin's cousin, she got ready and dragged me along to the shop to buy groceries. On the way, she told me that she did not mind because she felt like a slug, just lounging around all day so finally having something to do was, in fact, quite nice. Since there wasn't much else for me to do, tagging along seemed wise.

Once inside the shop, I pushed the trolley and held the list that Callum made me write down. He passed me a fancy pen with some fancy paper to jot down the things he needed. He enjoyed my suffering, that much was clear to me, and for some reason, I couldn't do much but satisfy him with it. Regardless, now that we had everything we needed on a list, we flew around the store and filled the trolley. During this, Griffin did not fail to mention how pathetic it was that all it took for her cousin to fall in love with someone was some of their attention. When I wondered why she said that, she groaned and muttered something about love not being real.

"You can't just say that and then ignore me," I let her know when she refused to elaborate. One thing I found rather annoying about her—which was a great progress seeing as everything used to annoy me about her—was when she said something and then couldn't be bothered to explain it further. She let me suffer as she'd deny me from more information, somehow probably finding joy in the fact that she could leave me hanging and begging for more. It was frustrating and I hated it. She shouldn't have been allowed to say something and then shut up until we'd move onto something else.

But she was. And it happened. All the bloody time.

"This conversation is not appropriate for what we're doing right now," she commented after a long while. She placed the items in the trolley and then glanced at the list in my hand. She was so close to me that the only thing I could sense was her perfume. It was always so strong but not in a way that irritated my nose. It made me feel comfort. It was familiar. In some strange way, it calmed my nerves, my mind but turned my palms slick with sweat, my stomach feeling uneasy as it lifted up and down due to her closeness. She managed to calm me down but work me up, act as though she was some celebrity, leaving me starstruck and speechless.

"I wouldn't say what we're doing is appropriate."

"Um," she looked at me with a confused look in her eyes, her chuckle lacking the humour. "What is that supposed to mean? We're literally shopping."

"Didn't mean it quite so literally," I cleared my throat as we stood in one spot so I decided to move along. Griffin stayed behind me for a few moments more before she picked up the pace and walked beside me.

"Well, how did you mean it, then?" she questioned. She pushed me to explain but I didn't want to because my last intention was to make her feel uncomfortable. I did not want anything to change between us for the worse before we had the chance to get to the better parts. "As far as I know, we're friends."
