The only person who deserved any blame was me. Stupidly enough, I made the decision to go over to the house when Wesley texted me. He said it was urgent and so my panic kicked in. Knowing what was best for me and doing what was best for me were two very different things. Whilst I was aware that my feelings were still hurt by the accusation that Nadine threw at me when she came over, I still put myself out there, only to face even more.
Katherine was never my fan. I was never her fan. We argued the first time we met and since then, we pretended as though the other did not exist. It was fine for a while although it seemed like she's had enough of that. The way she accused me of being the one to spread the rumour about Nadine cheating made me feel like shit. She turned me against my best friend, even if done only in theory. Yes, her and I were arguing right now but it did not mean that I loved her any less. It also didn't make me any less loyal to her. I'd have stood up for her regardless and I always stood by that.
When she appeared with Adrian by her side, the first thing I did was glance at her boyfriend. His posture collapsed before he inhaled deeply and pushed his shoulders back. Just before I turned my head away, he looked at me but I knew I couldn't do a double take. Nadine asked what was happening but I was just as lost as she must have been. She looked at me but not for longer than necessary, still holding the hard feelings from the last time we spoke.
"What are you doing here?" she asked me in a cold tone, making everyone focus on her and then on me. It was embarrassing and I hated every second of it.
"I was asked to come here," I responded. "But seeing as you are still in your head about whatever you believe I did, I'm not sure there's much use I can be here."
"Yes, well, you never did have much use in this house, did you?"
"Are you seriously having another go at me? And for what?" I asked her when she began to attack me again. The fact that we had an audience, made it even worse.
"Alright, calm down," Harry decided to speak. I turned to look at him but he focused on Nadine.
"Nice to see that you found your way home," Nadine spoke to him harshly. "Tell me, how's it been? Staying wherever the hell you're staying? Is it, perhaps, with my dear best friend, Griffin? She was quite eager to let you up to her apartment when I pretended to be you, only to be faced by me when she opened the door. Must've been quite the disappointment, hm?" she switched between speaking to Harry and speaking to me, only confusing the others in the living room more. This was going to be a shit show and for some reason, I feared that I'd leave it without the best friend I never wanted to lose.
"If you all must know every bit of information about my private life then no, I've not been staying with your friend. I've been staying at my brother's place," Harry spat the words like he was fed up of the nonsense. He was definitely not alone. "And if you want to know why, it's because I needed time."
