'Start at the beginning. That's the easiest.'
Yeah. Alright. Because I can just collect my thoughts in a snap of a finger and lay everything on the table.
After a couple more shots of alcohol, I sat down at the kitchen island. Burying my face in the palm of my hands, a frustrated sigh erupted from my lungs. Why did this have to be so hard? Why couldn't the words just spew out?
Probably because you're risking losing Harry before you even had him.
Yeah. Maybe.
But then again, this man was crazy. To the point, where I considered him to be plain stupid. He was still here, in my apartment, waiting for me to explain. It's almost like he needed me to explain things so he had a reason to stay. A reason to fight against letting me go.
It would've been so easy if he decided he didn't want anything to do with me after what he had to go through. Saving me an explanation and himself from further pain and danger. But no—he stayed.
And so, gathering my thoughts, remembering back to the first time he was placed in real danger, I started with the night he came to my rescue. Telling him about the true reason why I needed him there that night, he seemed almost like he could cry when he heard he was the only one I wanted to see because he could bring me the comfort I desperately needed. Gently interrupting me, he mentioned that I seemed rather off that night, acting slightly out of character. Then, he said he now understood why. He had his own personal run-in with Sagar.
Next on the list to explain was my birthday. Reacting with genuine surprise, he didn't want to believe when I claimed I never fired a gun before that occasion. Finding an opportunity to thank me for making that sacrifice and saving him multiple times that night, he left me at loss for words. I wasn't sure how to respond to him because he didn't need to thank me for it. As long as it was up to me, he was going to live a long, happy and healthy life.
Regarding my birthday, he had some questions about Callum's and Rachel's involvement in everything. Keeping it short, I told him that my cousin is somewhat involved whilst Rachel is pretty much both of our bosses.
Delving into this conversation, he felt comfortable enough to bring up the time he was followed. I could tell he felt embarrassed when his panic attack was mentioned so I didn't focus on it too long. He raised attention to the number plate of the car that he couldn't seem to get out of his head. Knowing what he knew, he felt everything was connected and he wished to know if I knew anything about the car or who could've been after him. Letting him know that I'd pass the information onto someone who was more experienced in tracking things and people, he thanked me whilst making sure it wasn't too much trouble.
