She confused me. She confused me a lot.

The morning after our phone call, I stood in the kitchen, making myself a coffee. Wesley made his way out of his bedroom not too long after, the scent of the strong beans must've woken him up. I poured some into his mug and passed it over to him as he sat down at the table. Taking a sip of mine before placing it down, I opened the fridge and got the milk out for him. While he drank it with five sugars and milk until it looked like milk chocolate, I took mine without milk with one sugar. Usually, I preferred sweetener but since we ran out, I had to use sugar.

Still, Griffin confused me. Last night. Five years ago. Always. She never made sense. Unable to see what was happening in her mind, it was literally impossible to even predict what was going to happen next. She was hot then she turned cold. It was always a matter of what mood I happened to catch her in. Never the same, always up for a bit of surprise.

Whilst we both woke up properly, I checked my texts and emails, responding to ones that were important. Today was going to be chill. I was working the lunch shift which was from eight until four. Nine-hour shifts reminded me of my time at Eclectic, then again, those hours were horrific. Although there were some very early starts and very late finishes at the restaurant, it was still much better than working the whole night. Plus, now that I finished uni, I didn't need to worry about making it to classes on time or running on a couple of hours of sleep and forcing myself to stay awake during lessons so even if I had a late finish or early start, it didn't matter too much.

Wes worked at an office so he did nine to five everyday other than Fridays. He got off an hour earlier as a treat from the company. We planned to go out this Saturday and both of us were looking forward to it since it had been a while that we did something fun. His birthday was also coming up at the end of the month so the weekend would be a little getting-ready-night-out. It wasn't going to be anything over the top—just a bit of lads time with a couple of beers, maybe shots.

The mornings were usually uneventful because we just got ready for work and then left. Sometimes, I was gone before he even woke up and other times, I was still sleeping when he was going to work. Living with Wesley was easy because we both had things to busy us but the weekends were mostly free. We hung out then, unless we just couldn't be bothered. It was going to be strange once our lease runs out and we'll move out. I got too used to living with someone.

Walking into work, I smiled and greeted a few people. Wrapped my apron around myself and washed my hands before I began to prepare for a couple of things. Usually, the first three or so hours were spent preparing then the following four consisted of serving, the remaining one hour focused on cleaning up, restocking and changing the lunch crew with the dinner crew. As hectic as a dinner shift was, sometimes I preferred it because it required my mind to focus and not let it wander too much.
